Believe me, it's no day at the beach when we're grading those damned English Regents, either! There are four essays per exam and each exam has to be graded twice--by different teachers. I wonder how pithy this exam's critical lens will be?

Taking finals/regents suck, but I can't even fathom having to grade them. My heart goes out to you, Dollypop.
I spent most of today taking notes for the thematic essay portion of my global history/geography final, and doing practice regents questions online, for it. Unfortunately, this isn't an entirely regents-level test (I'm in an honors class, so there will also be questions my teacher will make up, and AP questions). I'm comfortable with the regents stuff, but beyond that, I'm not so sure. And I'm panicking about the thematic essay, because my grades on them have been erratic throughout the year, and she doesn't bother to give us constructive criticism when we do poorly, so I have no idea where the lost points come from.
Biology shouldn't be a problem, because the final is the same one the entire grade is getting, and it's pretty easy (we took Parts B and C on Thursday and Friday, in class). The Living Environment Regents is infamously simple, and I've been doing well on all the practice and review, and I'm actually fairly confident. Having a dad who teaches biology helps, too.
Of course, now that I've said this, the Regents and the rest of the final will turn out to be incredibly difficult.
English:... I think I'm going to have a heart attack about five minutes into the test, so maybe I'll get more time to study in the hospital (this is for the final, mind you, I don't take the Regents this year). 85 of 100 points are for a critical lens essay to be written, about the same focus we'd been using for A Tale of Two Cities... with both A Tale of Two Cities and Macbeth (which we read earlier in the year, charting something totally different). So, tonight, tomorrow and Tuesday, I have to reread Shakespeare so I can chart the focus I used for A Tale of Two Cities. The way my teacher grades the essays makes it so that it's virtually impossible to get all 85 points, and one grade lower would make it 75 points. So, this is the exam I'm really dreading, this year.
French: Exempt, for maintaining a good average all year. God/Buddha/Allah/Stephen Sondheim/Whoever He Is, bless my French teacher.
Math: Eh... I'll have to review a few things, before Tuesday (mostly geometric proofs and parabolas), but I'm not too worked up about this one.
Whew. Kudos to anyone who read all of that.

Nice edit. Anyone that gramatically concious is sure to do quite well on the regents
...Well its a theory at least

Ha! You would think...
I've spent the past week correcting the grammar of my friends, on AIM ("humor me- our English finals are coming up, and I've been reading "Woe is I" for the past week"). Apparently, that makes me a Grammar Nazi. Well excuse me for noticing the difference between "there" and "they're." Once you enter your teens, you should probably know that.

I was supposed to take my comprehensive Regents exams in English and Social Studies in 1974. Somewhere in New York someoine stole the answers so the exams were cancelled in the whole state. Everyone was automatically passed without taking the exam. I would have done very well on those test because they were my best subjects.
That is the stuff legends are made of...
I took the English Regents in June of 2001. I think that of all the final exams I ever took, that was my favorite. I didn't mind that it was four essays, I dove into that exam. I got 100 on it too. One of only 5 in a class of 600. It was a proud day for me.
The end of the school year SHOULD be stress free and easy...yet it is often the complete opposite. I hate how teachers wait till the last minute to pile everything on, on top of finals too.
But just think! You're almost done! Just a couple more days...you can do it. =)

I concur. Actually, that only happened with one class this year, because efficiency seems to be a foreign concept to my history teacher.
I finished my finals and I go to a nonregents school.
My schedule:
Tomorrow:
**Math Final (it only covers from February til the end of the year which is good)
**Spanish (same deal; its like another midterm)
Tues:
**English Final (took the listening already (simple), have yet to take the critical lens essay but Im not nervous. Im a pretty good essay-writer)
Wed:
**Global Final (same deal as Spanish and Math finals)
Thurs:
**Math A2/A3 Regents (freaking out about these just because the word 'regents' is added to the title)
NOTHING UNTIL THE FOLLOWING WEDNESDAY!!
Wed:
**The Living Environment Regents (Im pretty good at this and will have a 5 day gap to study before this test so Im even more confident...plus Im meeting with my tutor a few more times before the exam)
From most nervous to least:
-Spanish Final
-Math Regents
-Global Final
-Math Final
-Living Environment Regents
-English Final
PS: How much do Regents really matter towards what college you are accepted to?? And do finals (not state tests) matter at all regarding your college?

I have no idea about the Regents, but at my school our finals are averaged into our grade for the year. Different teachers weigh them differently, though. It's a little confusing.
Anyway, I took my global and Living Environment finals earlier today. Global was easier than I'd been anticipating, and Living Environment was harder than I'd been anticipating (that's not to say that they were easy or hard, just easier/harder than I thought they'd be). Tomorrow's math, for me, then Wednesday: English (the killer). Then nothing until next Wednesday (the Living Environment Regents). Phew. Two down; three to go.

Don't stress too much over Regents. It's really not worth it. I've tutored many a student in Global History, English, Chem, Math (A & B), and Bio, and they've all done better when they're relaxed.
I took the English Regents when I was sick -- couldn't hear out of one of my ears. I got a 97. Seriously, don't stress too much. Remember to take your time on everything...rushing is the worst thing you can do. On the math tests, just remember to write everything out.
I have my spanish final in 4 hours and 45 minutes, I am going to fail.
Next week I have three regents but I'm not so worried about them because they are much easier to study for.
I need to learn not to procrastinate.
