First Boyfriend Advice

Hey everyone. I know this is a really awkward topic, but I have been with a guy for about 4 weeks and I think our relationship is really awkward. I hardly have a class with him (I am in middle school), and we dont get that much time to spend together. I really want to hug him and become a bit more connected with him, but Im not sure if that would be weird, because he may not want to.

Any help will be much appreciated!!!! Thank you!!

Having been a middle school teacher for a REALLY long time....MS kids don't usually have PDAs AT school. So, if you aren't even holding hands in public, a hug would be awkward. Boys usually have a bigger issue with putting relationships on display....ESPECIALLY in MS. I teach HS now, and there still isn't a LOT of physical contact AT school.

(And most people's first boy/girl friend relationships are often wicked awkward - you aren't alone!)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Thank you so much for the advice! I think he wants the relationship to move fast, but I am not really sure for certain. I also have another friend who predicts that our relationship will end soon (end of this year or start of next year), because he will force me to do something and that will end it. This has made me sceptical about our relationship and a bit more cautious. I know this probably isn't true, but do you have any more advice?

XiaXia, if this "something" is actually serious and he would force you to do it, I'd steer clear. Anyone intent on getting into a relationship to get something (that seems implied to be) sexual...and in middle school...
Now I could be reading this all wrong, and I apologize if I am. But if this relationship has the potential to be short and have bad consequences, I'd tread cautiously.

He is not in control over how fast any relationship moves....that is up to each individual. NEVER do anything you aren't ready for....even if he breaks up with you over it. If all he wants is something physical, he's not worth it.

That being said, if you guys aren't even talking about it, neither of you is ready. Hold hands, kiss, get to see what he's like as a boyfriend.
