I have no idea what his beliefs are now or how strong they are. He definitely had the "good Christian upbringing," but he also left high school early to pursue acting.
There have been many kids who've had strict faith-based backgrounds who go another route in adulthood. The fact that he has Jewish ancestry and "radical thinkers" in the family may make him question a lot of things about how he was raised.
Or not.

Chad Michael Murray will always be my Lone Ranger. I'm not sure that they ever released it on DVD, but I remember it airing on the WB when I was a teen and I liked it.

Depp looks like someone having a bad day at the Royal Wedding wearing one of those ugly hats
Other than his pirate pictures, his last few have not set the boxoffice on fire.
Both Jay Silverheels & Clayton Moore are turning over in their respective graves.

CATS that photo looks like a porn promo ad.
It was sort of like a porno version, I guess. There were some definite bromance moments. I think that was the intent. It was on the WB after all. They were trying to appeal to the teens.

So I was right.

Did the writer even look at the painting? The crow is not flying behind the Indian's head; it's dead and clearly resting upon it. You can tell by how it's positioned on the head. If it were flying in the background you would see the outline of the chief's entire head. This guy's giving Depp too much credit.
