Hey all! Our school is doing Footloose next fall, and I've just been cast as Eleanor Dunbar! :) Most of the leads went to seniors, and I'm only a sophmore so I'm overjoyed to have gotten a part at all! Anyway, can anyone tell me anything about this character? I don't really know that much, except that she is the coach's wife. We don't start rehearsals until September, but I'd like to get a feel for it before then if possible, so I would really appreciate any help you guys could offer.

Thanks in advance!!!

If I remember right, I don't think you are a big character...maybe on stage once...you will probably double as a kid.

All the adults in Footloose are uptight and scared to offend the Revrend. All the women are stereotypical of the backwards time theyre portraying- theyre shown doing things like agreeing with their husband and/or the priest or 'biting their tongue' when they disagree with their husbands or cooking/shopping.

I did this show in March and if I remember correctly, you are in 3 scenes in Act I, and 2 in ACT II.

Blockbuster my ass. I thought the show in general wasn't exciting and the book is so-so at best. People around my hometown loved it only b/c we, the local teens, were in it.

I directed Footloose last fall. You guys will get a huge turnout. It's a really fun show to be a part of.

As far as Eleanor is concerned, just make her memorable. I know it may be difficult, but especially during the first scene and also during the city council meeting. Give her a very strong, stubborn demeanor. You'll be fine.

Break a leg!

That this show still has a life anywhere, is very disconcerting!

Al Dente- What are you talking about?

I did this show this past spring. I played Chuck Cranston. I had a great time, and the show is awesome. I don't know what script you read.

Thanks everyone! Yeah, I'm gonna be doubling as a teen in the ensemble as well as playing Eleanor. It sounds like it should be fun. Thanks for all of your help!!!
