Hey all! Our school is doing Footloose next fall, and I've just been cast as Eleanor Dunbar! :) Most of the leads went to seniors, and I'm only a sophmore so I'm overjoyed to have gotten a part at all! Anyway, can anyone tell me anything about this character? I don't really know that much, except that she is the coach's wife. We don't start rehearsals until September, but I'd like to get a feel for it before then if possible, so I would really appreciate any help you guys could offer.
Thanks in advance!!!

All the adults in Footloose are uptight and scared to offend the Revrend. All the women are stereotypical of the backwards time theyre portraying- theyre shown doing things like agreeing with their husband and/or the priest or 'biting their tongue' when they disagree with their husbands or cooking/shopping.

I directed Footloose last fall. You guys will get a huge turnout. It's a really fun show to be a part of.
As far as Eleanor is concerned, just make her memorable. I know it may be difficult, but especially during the first scene and also during the city council meeting. Give her a very strong, stubborn demeanor. You'll be fine.

Al Dente- What are you talking about?
I did this show this past spring. I played Chuck Cranston. I had a great time, and the show is awesome. I don't know what script you read.
