This seems like as good a point as any to say he is of questionable judgment with a complete bias against the NJ Teachers.
Apparently, James "Selective Editing" O'Keefe had folks secretly recording NJ Teachers at a conference in August. Christie has used this as evidence of corruption and misconduct.
One teacher, who was plied with alcohol and was flirting with someone else at the bar, conveyed a story about how hard it is to fire a teacher with tenure, and mentions a fellow teacher who continues to teach after calling a student the "n" word. She was conveying what she perceived to be an actual problem in the system. She had no idea she was being taped nor did she know that the man she thought she was flirting with was doing so solely to get a juicy recording to serve a political agenda.
She was reprimanded for using the "n" word, even though when she used it, it was to describe a problem in the system and in what she thought was a private conversation. When they tried to have her say the word while knowingly on tape, she refused. This teacher was suspended, docked 9 days of pay, and lost a promotion because she used the "n" word while unknowingly being recorded.
This same teacher received a commendation in 1997 for throwing herself in front of an oncoming van to protect her children.
If this is the best they got after secretly taping a bunch of folks at a conference while drinking, then all I can say is BFD.

I loathe the man, and voted against him, and I would vote against him in any future election. However, unlike other politicians from both parties, he's doing pretty much what he said he would. So, we got what we deserve. Shame on us (as a group) for electing him. Shame on Corzine for running when he was unelectable. Shame on the Dems for not dumping him in the primary.
That said, I would not at all be surprised to see him re-elected, though it is very early to talk about that. Across NJ, folks complain about their taxes, and public schools are a big part of the local taxes. That makes the unions an easy scapegoat, even though any serious thought shows that the waste is an administration.

MB - you are right - they elected exactly what they voted for.
I have had friends in other states looking fondly on what he is doing ...

Yeah, my mom has been defending him, telling me that he has a really tough job to do. I agree with that, but it just seems like he is trying to do too much at once, and much of it seems to be negative.

Posted: 11/16/10 at 10:55amIt's the standard GOP playbook of defining 'them', the entity that is responsible for everyone's woes. At the national level, it's Muslims and immigrants (sorry blacks and gays, you're old hat). In NJ, it's the teachers' union.
