Nobody in my family is answering any of their phones. I'm a little concerned.

Is anyone going to the Hofstra event on the 25th?
I was supposed to be going with a friend, she left a message for me on the computer telling me she can't go and was really upset..not sure why yet =[
Dude, where the hell is my family? It's unlike them to tell me where they're going, if anywhere.

Emcee- that has happened to me before and I was absolutely spazzing out.
My mom ALWAYS has her cell phone on and ALWAYS answers it, even if she can't talk at the moment.
I thought she would be home and she wasn't so I called her cell and it was off so I assumed she was home in the laundry room or bathroom so I called in 5 minutes...no answer.
It turned out she forgot to turn her cell on.
I'm sure everything is fine.
My mom, dad AND brother are not answering their cell phones. They're not answering the house phone. My mom and brother are almost always on AIM, and they're both signed off.
My mother is THE most paranoid woman in all of America. She has her phone on her, accessible at. all. times. She doesn't even ever turn it off.
Unless they're going somewhere, my family is well settled in at home by this time of night. And if they had plans, they would have told me.
I'm sure everything is okay. Just keep calling.

"My mother is THE most paranoid woman in all of America."
No, that would be me.
Is there a neighbor you can call? Maybe even just to see if the cars are there or go knock on the door?

I'm sure they're fine Emcee.
This happened with my dad a few weeks ago. I had been calling him all night. no answer. It was 12:00 at night when he usually comes home around 7. I was getting really freaked out and made my mom drive to the work site. He was there, and said he forgot to even look at his cell and that it was in his truck. He was finishing up an extra job. Oy..my heart was racing. I was pretty pissed at him.
Today I saw 2 monkeys mating in the rainforest. It was cool, but freaky. The male all of a sudden jumped on a trashcan and started banging it up and down and jumping on it, then he ran up the tree to his mate, and they...went at it. A very interesting experince, to say the least.
Emcee, I´m sure they´re fine.
Wishes come true, not free.
They finally called me back. My dad thinks my brother is a jerk for not answering his phone; he's at a party. But like, when they DO go out (which is almost never) they tell me like a thousand times where they'll be -- with my allergies and everything, they like to be easily reachable in case something happens to me, or whatever. So the fact that they were answering NONE of their phones and that they hadn't told me they were going out made me kind of wonder if they hadn't all died or something.
They're obviously very sorry, or whatever. I'm pissed.

Well, now aren't you going to tell us where they were?
My curiousity is peaked.
Edit: We all have those experiences and 99% of the time everything is fine. It's worrying for nothing...
And yes, I do worry for nothing about 99% of the time...
You'd think I'd take some of my own advice...
mine too.

That's exactly how I get Emcee. I get so worked up and worried what happened to them. Then they think it's no big deal. I get pissed.
I'm glad they're fine Emcee.

I once had this conversation with my mom:
Me: You always have you phone on!
Mom: I forgot to turn it on
Me: I was worrying and freaking out
Mom: Well, that's your problem; not mine. No news is good new.
Me: But I don't know- you could be dead. You could have choked, carbon monoxide, fire, murder...G-d knows!
Mom: And, is there anything you can do about that? or...if I was dead.
Me: No! But, I'd like to know and if you answered your phone (or at least had it on)- I would have known you are ok!
Mom: [my name], no news is good new.
Me: I heard you the first time
Mom: You worry too much and are paranoid
Me: Thanks, Captain Obvious. G-d forbid one day something happens and I can't get in touch with you and 'assume' all is fine because "no news is good news"...

I just remembered this and feel like sharing...
A few months ago- my mom's old friend called to tell her that her mother died. My mom gave her condolences and then the lady said- I was pissed- the hospital called me at 2am. They woke me out of a sound sleep. Don't they know that when someone is dead at 2am they will still be dead at 9am? At least I could have gotten some sleep!
That's horrible! I would think that a person's mother might rate a little higher than that.
I just came back from visiting my family. I got to see my new little cousin.

Keeping a cell phone with you is important. I flipped over and completely wiped out on my bike today and I was in the woods. I ended up being tangled in the bike and if I had broken my leg or something, I would have been really screwed. No one was around and I don't know what would have happened.
As is, my entire right leg is probably going to be bruised for a very long time and my iPod is scarred for life. But it could have been really, really bad.

I seriously find it fascinating how much we rely on cell phones (I admit, I do too)
10 or so years ago we all lived perfectly fine lives without cell phones.
What exactly made them of such importance?
I'm so mad. Now I (ironically) hung up on my mom. Three times.
They were out at dinner.

Thanks for the sympathy.

Your post was in limbo. That's really scary. I am glad you're alright, though, since... yeah, it could have been way worse.
Within about ten minutes, I've screwed myself over about four ways, and I've had about five fights, some of which have resulted in my fearing permanent damage. Great.
I wish my chat program let me go invisible, since people long ago caught me in being away-but-not.
Would be nice if you could like, go back and re-do stuff.

aww...Emcee- I hope things get better.
There should be a little eye-ball thing on AIM in the left upperhand corner that you can close (and it looks like you are offline) but still IM people.
I use iChat. It has no invisible option. Hence "I wish."
