Tag, I think you used a poor choice of words but I got what you meant. Others are looking for a fight, I think. Regardless, try to be more aware of how what you write can be perceived.

While this article does bring new details into the picture, we STILL don't know everything (obviously). I get the impression that Brandon may have been questioning his sexuality (but never pursued a relationship with Larry). Perhaps he would be nice to Larry but not want to be anything more than friends. But that's just the impression that I get after reading the article. It could very well be the polar opposite and Larry was stalking Brandon and Brandon was repulsed by Larry. Who knows?

As to the upcoming trial, I hope for two things:

1) That Brandon is indeed found guilty of a hate crime and not just for murder.

2) Brandon receives a minimum-to-medium sentence. I think it would be a tragedy to have him serve 51 years.

And I want to make something clear, here. I find the NEWSWEEK article itself completely out of line. There is an attempt at rationalization that is beyond the pale.

I don't care if the most flaming queen on Earth makes everyone so uncomfortable they can't breathe. If no overt physical harm is implied or acted upon, then there is NO, NO, NO justification for ending said person's life. NONE!!!!!

And to think it 'thought-provoking' for discussion is revolting.
