Fox News: Shame on NBC for Live Earth -- "one-sided" on global warming

Gotta hand it to that big-mouthed John Gibson ("War Against Christmas"), the pundit on Fox. He did a vehement diatribe against NBC for covering the Live Earth concerts. He said they showed their true colors giving this "one-sided" view of global warming, when MANY, FINE knowledgeable scientists would argue the case. Oh, that NBC! So predictably partisan, so daringly pro-active in taking on an environmental concern! How dare they!

Of course, Gibson's biggest beef was reserved for NBC providing that snippy renegade in an fuel-squandering mansion, Al Gore, with "a forum." And isn't Al Gore "a coward?" (his exact word) for being "afraid to debate?"

How dare Al Gore care about so-called "global warming!" anyway How dare that rich, smug Edwards with his tony coiffures care aboute poverty! The poor? HE'S NOT POOR! What a hypocrite! This is America, we celebrate "traditional values." You know, Wal Mart's Christmas displays! Buy your Creche from them, or their 4th quarer profits will tank.

Why, NBC's decision to show these soul-less, satanic concerts is the most shocking maninuplation by the media since ... that damned leftie Ted Kopple read the names of DEAD SOLIDERS! "Freedom of speech," He should've been sent to Guantanamo! And Al Gore should be BANNED until he debates Michael Crichton in prime time, with Brit Hume as moderator!

America, stand up so Al Gore and his wimps will stand down! Refuse to watch Godless rock singers sing in New Age praise of "saving our planet" this weekend! Who asked THEM to "save" the Earth! Our planet is supposed to EXPIRE. End of days, end of day... AL GORE WILL BE 'LEFT BEHIND!' TO FIGHT SATAN! Embrace your Christian ethos, and turn off that set!

And 24 hour later, Fox is reporting on the waste of energy (despite the use of generators), and the lack of a real "goal." If Fox is on the winning side of Science (!?) and geopolitical truth, why are they so threatened?

Maclean's dealt with the inherent contradictions in a much funnier way. Of course, the Live Earth argument is to get the idea of how big an impact even incremental personal change can have on the environment. Fox's argument is that anything less than perfection makes you a hypocrite, so why bother trying?

I've heard that argument before. Anything less than 100% contrition is unacceptable...as far as some people are concerned, why bother indeed. Than again we're all just victims of our society and it's prejudices and lack of compassion. wink wink.

Why would anything less than 100% contrition be acceptable. Although nobody is talking about apologies here, less than 100% contrition = an insincere apology.

Smart people reject those. However, this thread is about BECOMING eco-friendly. Some people seem to think that those who make five changes in their lives are wasting their time unless they make 95 OTHER changes. That's the Fox "why bother trying?" nihilism to which I was referring, Chita. Say, didn't you used to be ChitaIsContrite? Who can keep track!?

And of course, Fox is phiosophically poised to destroy anyone in the entertainment business (empty-headed left denizens of Hollyweird, please Shut Up and Sing) ... unless they denounce Thespis and become born-again Republicans (Reagan, Schwarzenegger, Thompson ... Fredy Grandy, post loveboat). To sing, to act, well, you dare not express an opinion about The World. But to be be an uninformed hayseed who buys your propaganda machine (the hijackers were from Iraq, we're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them in Peoria...), well, then you're the Real Deal, and you should speak up often. So to their thinking, the biggest single fallacy in these interconnected concerts is that mere rock singers should be allowed to express themselves.
