Mostly because Jamie Lee Curtis is BRILLIANT in it! She should have been nominated for an Oscar. As strange as that sounds, I totally agree. The remake of
Freaky Friday is criminally underrated. When I saw the poster, I said: "You have to be kidding me..." But, against all odds, it turned out to be comedy gold.
What made Curtis's performance so good was not only her comedic timing, but her complete lack of vanity and pretense. It certainly didn't
look like she was trying to win awards.
I still think it was the funniest film of 2003. It was HYSTERICAL, and managed to be very touching and real without being sappy. Speaking of which, the final scene at the dinner party never fails to get a lump in my throat. And Lohan, I think, stands up to Curtis very well.
