I'm not sure what to feel about this. I don't want to sound vindictive but he would have had the opportunity to resign on principle some considerable time ago, when it was becoming obvious that things were going wrong. That wouldn't have changed the collective decision making inside the organisation but it would have been better for him personally and his loved ones.

If it wasn't obvious to him that things were going wrong then he was probably out of his depth. And then I can understand that the incredible resulting mess both internally and on a much wider economic scale must seem overwhelming. But even so, there's so much more to life than a career.

He was a recent appointee to the position - only since September. He wasn't responsible for any of the trashing, just a close witness to the results.

Sometimes when in a situation like that, seeing what some people will do to others for the sake of money, it really robs one of their faith in humanity. The disillusionment can be profoundly depressing.

I'm listening to some talk radio show where they are questioning suicide or homicide. There seems to be theories on each side.

He was not merely a "recent appointee."

The article clearly states that "Before taking that job, Kellerman served as senior vice president, corporate controller and principal accounting officer. He was with Freddie Mac for more than 16 years."

As corporate controller and principal accounting officer, he was one of many who saw this coming, took their inflated salaries and bonuses and watched not only their company but the whole world economy go up in flames.
