Psychoville is from the creators of The League of Gentlemen, which I have yet to see (but is on my list), but I've heard lots of good things about.

BBC America should definitely be providing shows we can't get

I'm not often in perfect agreement with Goth, but in this case, I totally am.

It's time I revisited the show I think - my more mature eyes might view the white room sketches differently now.

Speaking of British sitcoms and Dawn French, anybody familiar with "Roger and Val Have Just Got In"?- it stars Dawn and Alfred Molina, and a lot of it seems to be up on youtube.

I haven't seen it, but I'll check it out. Another Jennifer Saunders show to check out is "The Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle."

I've never heard of it, but from the name alone I can already picture the character in my mind!

Oh, I love Vivienne Vyle. Though the show is very similar to that Lisa Kudrow thing a few years ago, but focusing on a talk show host.

"I admit I also appreciate her casting the gorgeous Tom Ellis as the male lead

Oh yes. Yes yes yes."

The League of Gentlemen is about ten years old so ideally watch that before Psychoville.

Have any of you seen Psychoville? It's a series Dawn French was a part of a couple of years ago. Really weird but really funny. - PRS

Phyllis, if I'm not mistaken, I believe I have you to thank for introducing me to that show. Didn't you have a Psychoville-related avatar for a while? When I first noticed it I wondered what the heck it was about - lol - and Google-image-searched it. After that I downloaded and thoroughly enjoyed watching series 1 & 2. I haven't seen the Halloween Special yet. "Really weird but really funny" pretty much covers it!

Anyway, I think I probably need to go check out French & Saunders too!

I just finished Jennifer Saunders' memoir yesterday. I quite enjoyed it, even if the Kindle copy was overpriced.

I was thinking of getting it, but I really hate kindle. E-readers in general are just not for me...

"I quite enjoyed it" doesn't exactly sound like a ringing endorsement, so I may wait until I get a proper-hard-copy-actual-book version.

Did you see her promoting it on The Graham Norton Show alongside Cher? It was so fun to see Cher laughing at the Sonny & Cher sketch from French and Saunders.

Oh no, I liked it a lot. A couple of times I laughed out loud. I didn't mean to imply it's not worth a read, particularly if you are a fan of hers.

Loved these two since "Girls On Top" w Ruby Wax as the 3rd room mate. Dawn's autobiography "Dear Fatty" (her nickname for Jen) is wonderful, written as a series of letters to people in her life and really gives u a new perspective on some of the shows. The 2 fat old men were based on a pair of real wankers who usta sit near the women's lav and make lascivious comments on all the women who went in. It's a bit sad cos she & Lenny Henry were still 2gether and it did seem they were a good fit.

I don't think there was anything these 2 couldn't take the piss out of.
