I just viewed a segment on Inside Edition extoling the virtues of women enticing their mates in a French Maid's costume. The spokeswoman stated that it is an essential part of any romatic relationship. This really got me thinking. I am seriously considering one of these outfits in hopes of attracting men. Any thoughts on this very important topic would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

"In hopes of attracting men"?
What are you going to do - wear it to the supermarket?
I think you have to GET a man first, THEN use the maid's outfit to spice things up.
I wear mine to the supermarket all the time. I have yet to attract a man.
I really don't understnad the appeal of this. I asked my boyfriend and he said it was hot--he just couldn't explain why. I'm actually really curious as to why men find this to be sexy.
The whole concept of illicit sex. Add the sex-toy feather duster, and short skirt...
I think that's why.

Shira should know that..she is the expert.
Well, I've worn one before!
I was 11, I think...I wore red lipstick. And fishnets.
How I ever convinced my mother of that, I don't know.

Men like these costumes because it sexualizes the concept of women as servants - who are molded within the overly sexualized European mold (at least in America's eyes.)

Eez too stoopide.
You go-wing to play, play aviatrixe.
I have no idea if this is even a joke or not. But, if it's not, I kind of get the impression that they meant in terms of like... if you're already *in* a relationship, you might dress up to turn a guy on, or whatever; not that you should walk around dressed up as a French maid in hopes of picking up guys.
I love that they call it "essential," completely neglecting variety in anything, namely personal taste.
I"m going with DG. I think it's all about the subservient connotations the maid outfit carries. Next time a Halloween shop comes to town, go to the women's section and look at all the Leg Avenue costumes. Notice how many of them are maids, or cheerleaders, or little-girl type outfits.
Personally, if I'm going to dress up, I'm going to dress as a cop or a gangster or something. I like the costumes that imply that I have the power...
