I've been in love with Chris Chelios before it was even cool. (Granted, being in Vancouver, it's still not cool to like him.)
I'm rooting for Detroit and Ottawa now.

Well, I can still root for my Lakers because there is no way they are even going to see Detroit again this season!
I must admit that I am a little torn in the east - Anyone but Miami works for me! I would not mind seeing King James get going, but Detroit works for me as well.

good day for Detroit sports!

Posted: 4/23/06 at 2:12pmThe Tigers are only 1 and a half games behind Chicago. I'd say they are doing really well this year. I am in Detroit Sports Heaven today. Plus I can watch Steve Nash/The Phoenix Suns beat up on the Lakers. Seriously, as far as sports watching goes...it doesn't get any better!

I am sure The Pea may have something to say about that!
Stoli braying again at 6:00 this morning. Oy.
I think he and The Pea must have some Karmic connection.
At this point, all I care about is that Miami looses, so I hope whoever has the best chance of beating Miami goes on.
The Clippers play Monday - but I am not really that big of a Clippers fan. It feels like cheating on my Lakers a bit. (Even though right now the Clippers are the better team).

CONFERENCE FINALS BABY!!!!!
KILL MIAMI!
(I will certainly be in a quandry if somehow the Pistons play the Clippers for the title.....as I lived in San Diego when the Clippers came into being, and they started in San Diego).

Whoop di do they beat the Cavs...not that big of a deal. Especially since, if you were watching, the Cavs weren't even trying. Why? Oh yeah, because the NBA is rigged. They gave Lebron somee playoff glory, got millions to watch who wouldn't have, got it all the way to 7 games, but wanted Detroit to win. Don't believe me? In game three the Pistons stopped trying the second half. Literally. Lebron had scored about 6 points the entire first half and was triple teamed most of the time. Second half, well he ended up with a triple double and it wasn't because he suddenly figure out how to get by three defenders.
But it now means that the Cavs and "King" James have further to go next year and will probably get more people watching him. Personally I am glad the Cavs lost because now people in the Cleveland area will finally shut up about them.

Caitie, that's just crazy. I strongly disagree.
If the NBA were "rigged" then Cleveland would continue playing. People tune in to to see Lebron James.
The NBA Finals last year were the lowest rated Finals of all time with San Antonio and Detroit. They are great teams, but they don't have "exciting players" that keeps the casual fan outside of those markets interested.
For marketing and ad revenue purposes, I guarantee you that the NBA would have much rather seen Lebron (and the Cavs) go forward to face Shaq and Dwayne Wade.
Furthermore, if the NBA were rigged, Lebron would have been drafted into a bigger market city than Cleveland. It could have been another Ewing to the Knicks kind of drama.
Bottom line is that the Pistons are an exponentially better team than the Cavaliers and as good as Lebron James is he is still a young guy who is extremely inconsistent under pressure. The 2nd half yesterday is perfect evidence to that.

get off the drugs kiddo....nothing is rigged, no one stopped doing anything during the series. I lived in Detroit too long to know the character of the team.......
this is one of your more ridiculous posts

Posted: 5/22/06 at 11:02amWere you watching the games? I know I was and I know that Lebron didn't suddenly become Superman during the second half of that game. And I also saw that the Cavs were not giving it 100% yesterday. Prretty much everyone in Cleveland said the same thing. Hardcore basketball fans actually calling into the sports radio shows because they couldn't understand why the Cavs had given up.

Yes, I was watching the game.
It's because they are a young team who havn't been there before.
That's history. Look at the history of the NBA and young teams making it past the first round of the playoffs.
The Cavaliers didn't give up, they simply didn't have an answer for the better team who knows how to finish out a big game.
It isn't unprecedented at all.
Historically the team with more experience in the playoffs wins the big game.
Also, I don't have time to look up the exact stats but the home team is something like 75-4 all time in a Game 7 in the playoffs. If they are playing a Game 7 at home it's because they had the better regular season record and are the better team. Therefore are supposed to win.
I'm sorry, but Cavaliers fans (in general, not just you) should be happy for the good season they had and the foundation this builds for next year rather than complaining about conspiracy theories.

uh, DUH...I watched them....sorry, the Pistons did not stop doing anything in any game. It was a good series......
and on that note, my participation in this ridiculous post is ended

No one other than LeBron could hit a shot all game.
So in the second half the Pistons put 4 guys on LeBron.
The Cavs then could not score, they tried, and they kept the game close.
They are a young team that overperformed to get to this point.
Next year (or more likely the year after) they may be great.
Detroit is the best team in the east and they almost won the series, I think that was a wonderful run.

Posted: 5/22/06 at 11:15amthe cavs were not giving 100%? yeah, they just decided that it was their time to lose. man, and i thought the tin-foil hat brigades were limited to the political threads. it's a massive conspiracy i tells ya. the fact that the pistons were running 3 and 4 guys at lebron and his teammates managed to do absolutely nothing? conspiracy. the fact that a first time playoff club lost to the reigning eastern conference champs? conspiracy. the fact that lebron decided to shoot jumpers in the 2nd half instead of attacking the rim? conspiracy. the cavs shooting 5 for 26 in the second half? conspiracy. losing to a team that had 4 of 5 starters on the all-star team and has defined team in professional basketball for the last three seasons? conspiracy. the cavs gave up because they couldn't hit a shot. they gave up because they didn't have the heart to win. that's why i gave up on the cavs back in '92. lebron is a great player and probably a future hall of famer, but the cavs will never win a championship. ever.

Is anyone moticing that I am GLAD the Cavs lost? They should have lost and they should have lost in about 5 games. It shouldn't have taken seven
And it isn't just the Cavs. Everyone I know in the real world thinks the NBA as a whole is rigged. Including a bunch of die hard basketball fans.
Personally I wish Lebron would just leave the Cavs and move on to somewhere else so he can move on to bigger teams and get the hell out of Cleveland
