At the recent conservative convention, Arizona Congressman Trent Franks used the kind of rhetoric that's usually reserved for the likes of Beck, Limbaugh, and Hannity.
Enemy of humanity

His spokesman clairfied.
His spokesperson Bethany Haley now says Rep. Franks actually believes Obama is only an enemy of "unborn humanity" and should have been more clear.
Oh. Okay. If THAT'S all...

You know, I am just so tired of these damn old men being all PRO LIFE and condemning anyone who isn't! Being Pro-choice doesn't make you an immoral person. It needs to be kept legal and safe. Choosing abortion is a very personal thing and only the most heartless could go into it without really weighing her options. They all want to keep screaming about partial birth abortion. Partial birth is very very very rarely chosen without the mother's life being in jeopardy. Often, the baby couldn't have survived outside the womb anyway.
Hey Mr. Congressman, until you have a uterus or have adopted 14 unwanted babies born with severe drug addictions which will lead to adhd and add, STFU.

Posted: 9/29/09 at 11:40pmIt's a creepy phrase for them to use. It sounds like a preschool version of "The Undead."

Posted: 9/30/09 at 9:42amIt's the same incendiary rhetoric Tom Friedman indicts in his Times column today. Friedman raises the same points many have made -- it's become a new dark cliche that's all too true -- but the toxic, violence-inciting climate must continue to be acknowledged.

I've always thought referring to fetuses, blastocysts, eggs, undeveloiped sperm, etc as "The unborn" always had a a sholocky, cheesey horror movie ring to it as well.
I still wish the Pat Robertsons et al of the world would discuss what they think the legal punishment should be for a woman who has an abortion, should the procedure become illegal. Even less realistic wishing, I'd like to see all these virulent pro-life people make an effort to actually work to prevent the NEED for abortion period, but let's face it, the fetishization of the unborn has nothing to do with the actually well being of anyone involved.

Posted: 9/30/09 at 10:45amI love how the extreme right keeps saying they want government not to tell them what to do and not to dictate to them but when it comes to abortion and gay marriage they want the government to step in there....they can't have it both ways...just like they are pro life yet for the death penalty...you can't have it both ways

His rhetoric is out of line as well, and he should apologize for it. He should also be voted out in 2010, either in the primary or general election.
By the way, the liberal website salon.com has already posted an article against him, so at least they're not circling the wagons like the conservative media.

No. What's good for the goose...
I am sick of one side tossing bombs while we say "Well, WE don't fight that way." Like hell we don't. I am making a list of Republican congressman who need to be used to "Water the tree of Liberty."

It's such a stupid phrase. If they're "unborn," then they're unborn. They're not living. Hello?
Who came up with that phrase anyway?
