Figured I'd start the thread now. I'm relying on you folks to tell me what happens. I won't watch. Don't think my blood pressure and nerves could possibly survive enduring the string of lies that will spew out of this convention.

The real question: Will they bother to hide the racist, homophobic, anti-women rhetoric?

And, of course, will there be anything but dark haired guys and blonde wives as delegates? (I don't count the Teabaggers on Socialist Security)

It figures such a figurative and literal pig is the keynote speaker. I'm doubtful I can even stomach to watch the thing. Kinda like listening to Hannity or Bortz. I try...then turn the channel within seconds.

Honey Boo Boo will be much more honest to watch.

Well...it's just as well that the networks weren't planning on broadcasting the first night of the convention, because it's been canceled.

Such a pity, because I know that Ann Romney would have knocked them dead.

Don't think I can watch the Keynote speakers address without throwing stuff at the TV...I was down the shore this weekend and guess who was walking on the boardwalk...couldn't get near him though...I left...didn't want to see his rather large ass while I was suppose to be relaxing on my vacation

Christie in just ten seconds just seemed so telegraphed with the bells and whistles going.

I would love to know if his parents who came from nothing got government assistance (the father likely got the GI Bill, for example). Not that it downgrades his nice family story but for a party that wants to be hands-off, it seems that they have selective amnesia. Paul Ryan's another one, got through college on S.S. benefits given to his family.

Bruce probably died hearing those references to his songs in that speech. Not as much as the teachers of NJ hearing him suddenly celebrate their profession.

I was thinking of his likeness to the lead character in Stephen King's Thinner.

The fact he asked for people to stand up toward the end should really be the definitive moment to point than anything he said, which was pretty damn vague up until mentioning the ticket (which took forever).

My friend, who is the wife of a chiropractor and hasn't worked in about 30 years, posted to Facebook this morning:

"If anyone is "on the fence" concerning their vote in Nov., just take a good look at the protestors at the RNC.....Scary!"

I REALLY wanted to publicly remind her that 13 years ago her 16 daughter at an ectopic pregnancy and had to have surgical termination or it would have killed her. The VP she is supporting wants to make that procedure illegal.

strummergirl, I felt the same way about Christie! What was all that talk about defeating the unions (and you could HEAR the sneer in his voice at the mere mention of the word)? It had nothing to do with Romney. How long did it take until he even mentioned Romney? He is such a self-serving jerk.

Ann should have entered the stage on her tax deductible horse.
