GOP doesn't blink, will the Dems?

Well, to no surprise, the GOP has filibustered a bill that would have extended the current tax rates for all income up to $250k. They even filibustered a bill that would have rasied that rate reduction for income up to $1m. So, is it now a countdown until the White House and congressional Dems cave to the will of the minority? Are the Dems really going to extend a program that is a proven failure, that they have campaigned against for over two years? I hope not, but it would fly in the face of all prior history for them to exhibit a backbone, wouldn't it? I've written to the White House, both my senators, and my congressional rep to express my opinion.
