We liberal-progressive-socialists tend to lump all Republicans and conservatives together or think that there is one "Tea Party." I think, in a way, the GOP mis-read the tea leaves here too.
When you read through this pile of dreck and publum, you'll find that it is weirdly--and stupidly, if I do say so--OPPOSITE to the most important demand the tea partiers are making: Shrink the size of the government. Shrink the budget of the government. Shrink the control of the government.
The promises in this e-document for shrinking are so vague and old-hat that the average tea-partier will see right through them.
Either the GOP brass who masterminded this have a tin ear for their constituents--or they are doing it on purpose.
MAYBE...they are actually declaring war on the tea-party movement for control of the Republican party, saying, "You hooligans think you can pick candidates and take over our party. Well, you're wrong. WE have the power, we know how to placate the people, and we will keep our power."
If that's the case, they may have seriously blundered. The weird thing about this mid-term election is that BOTH parties are in disarray. It really is an election in which anything could happen.
It may be the most important election of our lives.
