We liberal-progressive-socialists tend to lump all Republicans and conservatives together or think that there is one "Tea Party." I think, in a way, the GOP mis-read the tea leaves here too.
When you read through this pile of dreck and publum, you'll find that it is weirdly--and stupidly, if I do say so--OPPOSITE to the most important demand the tea partiers are making: Shrink the size of the government. Shrink the budget of the government. Shrink the control of the government.
The promises in this e-document for shrinking are so vague and old-hat that the average tea-partier will see right through them.
Either the GOP brass who masterminded this have a tin ear for their constituents--or they are doing it on purpose.
MAYBE...they are actually declaring war on the tea-party movement for control of the Republican party, saying, "You hooligans think you can pick candidates and take over our party. Well, you're wrong. WE have the power, we know how to placate the people, and we will keep our power."
If that's the case, they may have seriously blundered. The weird thing about this mid-term election is that BOTH parties are in disarray. It really is an election in which anything could happen.
It may be the most important election of our lives.

clearly we are not the party of no and should never again be referred to as such. the gop is now the party of d'oh! with apologies to homer.
a 21-page document full of re-hashed ideas and talking points that clearly feels like it was focus grouped to death? by golly boys that's original!
one page. 10 points. repeat them ad nauseum. who cares if you can defend them or pay for them or if they even mean anything?

and pj's right. people keep acting like the tea party is some monolithic thing when it's not in any way shape or form. it's the original famous ray's pizza of political parties. google it. i saw at least 5 different websites proclaiming themselves the "official tea party site". the tea party in mpmphis is not he tea party in boise is not the tea party in duluth is not the tea party in tallahassee. it's local and that's why it's effective. anybody and their brother can start a tea party.
they will win a buncha seats, but they may not caucus with anyone and their votes are utterly unknowable on a lot. and christine o'donnell may just put a spell on barry o and make him go all googly eyed. oh, wait...
still, this thing is such a waste of time and money and effort as to be almost assuredly a democrat dirty trick.
