"What’s most important, though, is that The Fountain vaults Aronofsky to a new level as a filmmaker. Before he was a cult director, a fringe talent who appealed to the film geeks and the people who look to the edge. The Fountain’s not a mainstream movie – it’s really ****ing smart, for one thing – but the director who made this movie is a man coming into his own. The Fountain is beautiful, gripping and utterly transcendent. It’s the best film of 2006."

I still wonder what Brad Pitt would have been like in this story.

(opening day of The Fountain -- outside the movie theater)
Jerby: Hi Addy!
Addy: Oh, hi Jerby!
Jerby: What are you in line for?
Addy: The Fountain! I can't wait! I LOVE Hugh Jackman.
Jerby: Oh dear.
Addy: What?
Jerby: I guess you didn't hear.
Addy: Hear what?
Jerby: At the last minute, they decided to edit Hugh Jackman out of the film and replace him with Brad Pitt.
Addy: WHAT??
Jerby: Yeah. It happened this past week. HUGE scandal.
Addy: Oh. Well, dammit! Nevermind then. (starts to leave)
Jerby: Hey--do you mind if I take your spot?
Addy: No, go right ahead! I'm just going to go home and watch Kate and Leopold. (sigh) (leaves)
Jerby: YES!!!!
--and scene--
...and then Jerby woke up!

Was THE BOY FROM OZ an actually good play or was it merely a bad play that was slightly elevated due to Hugh's performance? I did not see it.

Hugh gets ready to guard Addy's place in line.
Cruel - it was definitely elevated by Hugh's performance, but, I enjoyed it... it had more going for it than many people gave it credit for.
Did I mention it had Hugh in gold lame' pants?

Please keep in mind that referring to him as 'our' Hugh encompasses quite a few people - and some of us are more treacherous than others

Don't forget that Sean Gullette from Pi is also in it as well.
