Time to clear out all the unwanted clutter and unused gifts so decided to have a garage sale.

Please help with advice on how to and how not to be offended as strangers haggle over your 'precious memories'.

So far I am at the stage where my garage is filled to bursting[neatly set out on tables] and about to PRICE everything.

I'm not going to check on ebay[even if I knew how] relative value of things so any suggestions on anything and pricing would be much appreciated.

I have put up a [humorous] sign--Please don't steal from us--punishment is public flogging OR $5-for 10mins]--have hung a leather flogger next to the sign.

If you are going to get offended, I wouldn't have the garage sale. I don't know where you live, but most people are going to try to get your things at 10 cent on the dollar. Even if you have antiques, they are going to lowball you. The more "insulting" actions are when they drive up to your sale, look to see what you have from within the car, and see there is nothing they want, and drive on. Those are the dealers.

The important thing to remember is your primary goal is to get rid of it, not make a ton of money. Even when I sell on eBay, i just start everything at 99 cents, and see what happens... the result is often the stuff I wasn't that into goes for a lot, and the stuff I thought was worth a lot goes for much less, heh.

If the things you are selling have "Precious Memories" then don't sell them. try to detatch the memories from the items.

Thanks for your thoughts--I must remember that my prime purpose is to remove these items from my house [NOTHING is coming back inside]-any money made is a side issue as I've already had their value for years.

Will just have fun on the day and hope I catch someone stealing !!
