I just went out to lunch and the gas station here in town was at $2.94 for regular. On my way back from lunch, I passed by the same gas station and it is now $3.04 for regular?!?
My only question is: How long was I gone?

Posted: 8/31/05 at 1:22pmI'm afraid to even check our gas prices... on Monday regular was already over $3 here in Seattle.

Gas here in SF area is already $3.35 for leaded and 3.45 for super. Thank goodness I take the "cheap" gas...which is a mere $3.21!!!!

i'm afraid to leave work and drive home because gas prices by my house are historically higher than here in town where i work.
oh, and kmf, obviously the station had a fill-up of fresh gas in the 40 minutes i was gone. obviously.

Posted: 8/31/05 at 1:34pmIt was $2.67 when I left for work but it was at $3.16 by the time I went to lunch -- that's in NE Ohio.

i feel a bit luckier than all of you, i have to buy 93 (premium) and it's just over 3... on the weekends, the gas station I go to (oil city), it's 10 cents off!! Yay!
But it's goin up more, so soon regular will be 3 over here and I'll cry cuz I'll be paying like 3.25-.50

My dad called me yesterday to say that gas went up 20 cents in a matter of hours in my home town.
So I filled up last night at $2.89.
Even at that low, low price, it costs me $36 to get half a tank.

30 cents overnight in my hometown.
I wonder if they will just keep it at 2.99 and 9/10 rather than break that psychological barrier of 3.00 on the signs?
#18re: Gas Prices
Posted: 8/31/05 at 4:04pmi thought that too, then i went to lunch. granted i take long lunches but not that long. $3.04, kids. and i'm sure my hometown gas station will be at least .06 cents more than that...

Posted: 8/31/05 at 4:09pmthe area hit by katrina is responsible for 25% of domestic oil production and was the conduit for 30% of foreign oil to enter the country. 12% of america's already overworked and woefully insufficient refining capacity is there. high $3 low $4 is probably a near term reality for gas prices.

Posted: 8/31/05 at 4:10pmPlaces around here are listing lower prices on the signs but higher prices on the pumps (which are, of course, the actual prices.) I imagine that will be nipped in the bud pretty quickly.

In Vancouver, we're paying C$1.116/litre, x3.785 = C$4.224/gallon.
That comes to US$3.56/gallon for us.

Posted: 8/31/05 at 4:46pmMy Point, JohnPopa, is that gas isn't expensive--nobody complains about the cost of bottled water, or coca-cola, or even milk...I just find it odd that so many people think cheap gas is some given...think about all the work that goes into refining one gallon of gas and it's still quite a bargain...
#24re: gas prices
Posted: 8/31/05 at 6:05pmIt's still also 100% more expensive than it was last year and, around here, fifty cents more than it was THIS MORNING. It took the same amount of work to produce it when it was $1.50 a gallon too and that was barely nine months ago.
