So, here's my question, and perhaps one of our British friends can help us out.

We all know that the Holocaust is the touchstone of evil behavior against which all other acts of evil will be measured (and, hopefully, invariably come up short). But I'm wondering if Britian's view of WWII is different than, say, America's. Is the first thought in most Brit's minds when you say 'Hitler' the Holocaust or the Blitzkreig.

Not that it would be an excuse for such poor judgement (especially from someone who is as public as a member of the Royal family).

But this incident calls to mind the time I saw on the news the Sing Along Sound of Music that was taking place in Britian and some audience members dressed up as Nazi stormtroopers. When it came to America, that was expressly forbidden.

papa - your note about the Kerry kids is well taken. My comment about the Bush twins isn't partisan, it was meant to remind the high and mighty Americans that the Royal kids aren't the only idiots out there!
