Isn't this topic what "But I'm a Cheerleader" is about? I haven't seen it, but I thought it was about a girl coming out and being sent to a Gay Rehab camp and falling in love there with another girl, or something like that.

It's one of the shows at NYMF in September, so I think there is already a Gay Rehab Camp Musical coming to us.

But I'm A Cheerleader is about a girl who's NOT gay, but everyone around her is convinced she is, so her parents send her to a gay rehab camp. It's hilarious.

This might be a little high-concept, but what if they couldn't dance at all when they were straight? All the production numbers would just fall flat with no choreography. Then, when they are Gay again, they all snap into perfectly synchonized Tommy Tune dances.

Can we end it with at least a couple of weddings? I've been on a Shakespeare comedy kick and you just can't end one of those without some weddings.

I know one dance Rath and Emma can do. It's from the 70s. It's called "The Bump".

Emma can tap. i saw her do so in ME & MY GIRL in the West End, before she got all high-falutin.

i haven't been following the GMA series, so i don't know if these two are from the same philosophy as that one. i thought the conversation was fairly respectful on all sides, though you COULD tell Joy was not buying it. The "counselor" guy was also careful not to admit his own sexuality, or how it was formed. i didn't find anything about the discussion, either the teasers or the general tone, to be sensationalistic at all.

Will: They don't give out awards for helping people be gay... unless you count the Tonys. "I guarantee that we'll have tough times. I guarantee that at some point one or both of us will want to get out. But I also guarantee that if I don't ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for the rest of my life..."

The show (But I'm a Cheerleader) will be performing in Midtown as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival in a couple of months.

Has anyone ever seen But I'm A Cheerleader? It's a movie about a girl who gets sent to gay rehab, and it's really funny.

Ok, so I'm shilling a little bit (and in the wrong thread, no less), but all the talk of "...Cheerleader" made me think the timing of this in my inbox this morning was too fortuitous.
I know a lot of the people involved in this show. It's going to be really good.

Oh, I loved church camp. I got more action at church camp then I ever did in high school.
