haha. you have no idea about what i represent. i never said there was an "underground film agenda", i simply said i don't know underground/independent films. that's something i said up front, acknowledging that i only know some stuff. but i can certainly offer suggestions based on what i do know. there are many ways to show/perform/view/watch/understand/learn from scenes about homosexual relationships/love/sex. obviously cheno has to find 10 and just because you have some agenda against the mainstream film industry does not mean that no one else can acknowledge anything they have done. and this is all after i acknowledged i don't know everything and that cheno should listen to your suggestions as well, in order to be better informed about the whole spectrum of vision society has about this matter. whether from homosexuals, bisexuals or heterosexuals. lord knows that gay people aren't the only ones who can comment on gay culture. that is such a juvenile way of looking at life.
also, gia and swimming pool aren't exactly very well known movies.
well, someone obviously pissed in the beave's cornflakes this morning!
THE TALENTED MR RIPLEY is a guilty pleasure of mine. time to watch it again. tom's bf = jack davenport = dreamboat

If you can find it, try to find Arisan!. It's an Indonesian film that have revolutionize the way the film industry in that country when it come to homosexuality in Indonesia. It's interesting that the censor did not censor a single scene, including the gay kiss. It was received very well by the general public, breaking box office records. It's also different in that the Indonesia is a predominantly Muslim country that have a very high level of tolerance toward the gay community (unfortunately, it's still close minded when it come lesbians).
Querelle... how could I forget it.
oh, god, QUERELLE was just AWFUL, wasn't it? :o
Hmmm...come to think of it, there aren't a lot of gay male movies with actual love scenes...And I can think of many female movies...( The Incredible Adventures of Two Girls in Love, High Art, etc.)
So here is my list:
1. Torch Song Trilogy - it was the first film I ever saw two guys kiss, and that scene in the hay with Brian Kerwin and Matthew Broderick was pretty hot.
2. Stonewall - As much as I love Guillermo Diaz, the wig made a sexy scene unsexy.
3. Love, Valour, and Compassion - You would think the two straight actors kissing this passionately (Justin Kirk and Randy Becker) were actually gay.
4. Angels in America - That Ben Shankman and Patrick Wilson scene when Ben was showing him the ropes...
5. American History X - the rape scene in the bathroom...though the acting was not that great on Norton's part...and it's not really considered "Making Love", but I'm sure it's a fantasy of many gay mens.
Funny, I can't think of anything else.
Actually, the most buzz I ever heard about a same-sex scene in any film was the lesbian scene in Personal Best. That got a TON of publicity when it opened.
Another major controversy in gay sex scenes was Cruising with Al Pacino which was considered VERY explicit in its day.
Most romantic and touching in my opinion is Beautiful Thing. The sexual frustration and the trepidation between the two teen boys is so real, my heart just pounds every time I watch it. Fantastic film!
The Ritz is an interesting perpective of gay sex in that it is a screwball farce that takes place in a gay bathhouse, yet there really are no sex scenes in the film, but the locale implies that gay sex is occuring everywhere. Based on the play by Terrence McNally, which ran a year on Broadway.

" I cHad a Drrream!"
Thank you all. I am soo lucky there are soo many nice souls to help! Thanks again!
you're just "lucky" this board is overrun by homosexuals
LOL!
What counts as a love scene? One of my favourite "love scenes" is in ANOTHER COUNTRY, but it just has two young men cuddling in a boat at night (Rupert Everett and Cary Elwes, no less). There's another another scene where they're just having dinner, but it just oozes with romanticism.
hey, cuddling in a boat is my FAVORTE kind of love scene
