Hey all. So, I'm in need of some help. I'm in a summer class at my college where we analyze films. Right now we are looking at how the love scene has progressed over the years. My job was to find about ten of the best gay love scenes around. I'm having a hard time finding any that sound really interesting or intimate. Can anyone let me know of any? It's hard to do a search for this and not end up with porn so I thought someone here might be able to help. Thanks!
I'm not completely sure of what you need exactly, but I just watched David Searching. It's a cute story, with some love scenes (and Anthony Rapp is in it) - you may want to check it out, though I don't know the scenes in it would qualify as in the "ten best."
It is kinda vague the way he described it. He just said "about the ten best". I'm not sure if that means ground-breaking or full of flesh or what! But I will check that one out - thanks! Any others?
Did not mean it to sound like I was searching for porn. I meant that when I typed into google things like "romantic gay movies" or things along those line, porn site would keep popping up and that was not what I was looking for. Sorry, if I made it sound like I was looking for porn!!! Thanks for the movie advice....I must take a trip to the video store
Thanks! I think I have seen "Bent"...but I'm not sure! Thanks you are SOOO helpful. I think I might be able to pretend that I totally understood his vauge intructions thanks to you!
The first thing to pop into my head was the James Wilby/Rupert Graves scenes from Maurice. I can also recommend a very sexy scene from Almodovar's Law of Desire (La Ley del Deseo) with none other than a young Antonio Banderas.
i would definitely include MAKING LOVE, which IS a ground-breaking film from 1982.

making love made me laugh.
only because michael ontkean and kate jackson were in it and all i could think about was "the rookies" (a show they were both on earlier in their careers).

also, if you want something more of the general public saw you could do wild things.
Not a 'gay' film, but the scene where Catherine Deneuve seduces Susan Sarandon in "The Hunger"... would that be along the lines of what you're looking for?

It's one of my top ten...
Maybe your list is different from mine, Beav.

she has to find 10 gay love scenes. that is a scene that revolutionized how the general public responded to same-gender sex scenes. there are many different ways to classify best. sexiest, most romantic, revolutionary, most honest... you're really being quite an @ss tonight beaver, and i don't see you coming up with 10 movies that are leading cheno in any direction, you just feel like telling everyone else how stupid they are for trying to help.

also, in an attempt to show how love and reality come to affect one another there is an amazing scene in the talented mr. ripley, though it's not a sex scene.
and going after a much different representation you could go after the shawshank redemption, the jail scene.
read, people: "It is kinda vague the way he described it. He just said "about the ten best". I'm not sure if that means ground-breaking or full of flesh or what!"
i'm sure she's appreciative of ALL ideas ...

and another interpretation could be about the affects suffered by so many homosexuals, single and in relationships throughout the 80's, 90's and today.. philadelphia shows an unending love on antonio's part, the inevitable outcome on tom's part and the outsider's perspective on denzel's part.

well that one is hot, though i was referring to the final scene between tom and his boyfriend where he kills him because he can't let his love ruin who he is. it's powerful.

i'm sorry i don't know all the underground or independent "gay" movies. i know what i know and am offering help based on that. she said it was a very vague assignment, which in my history has always proved that the teacher is in fact looking for your definition "best"... i would tend to try to look for a lot of different types represented in that case, studio (mainstream) and independent. no matter what you say popular culture has a lot to do with you homosexual love (whether sex or not) is and can be seen. you've got to look at both sides.

i didn't say i related. but read my previous post. you have to take into consideration popular societies view.
