Ahhh Tony week rolls around once again...I have to share my geeky story with you all:) When I was in HS in Maine I used to get sooo excited for the Tony Awards but no one else knew what they were or really cared including my Mom. Even though I had never seen a Broadway show I would pick all of my favorites to win. When the big night rolled around every year I would go into my closet and pull out a prom gown, put it on, order my favorite food and watch the Tonys!! LOL
I am thinking about having an intimate soiree at my house for the Tony Awards. I am thinking of telling people they have to dress up.
Of course, there will be preshow entertainment via BWW Radio and my Cast Recordings that I have copied to Itunes. I am working on the Idea of Broadway related foods.
newyorkuniq, I heart that!
You are my inspiration.
I have decided to try out your Tony night plan.
So, when the Tonys are airing, think of me.
I'll be on my couch wearing a fluffy retired prom dress, singing along loudly with all the musical numbers (minus Caroline, or Change, which I don't know), and screaming joyously if my favorites win.
And I will have my trusty iBook (connected to internet via AirPort) on my lap so that I can join in the chat here. Feel free to ask me to describe my dress over the chat during commercials.
:)
And what would Broadway related foods be?
Wait, wasn't there just recently a thread on that? Titled "Broadway Foods"?
"When the big night rolled around every year I would go into my closet and pull out a prom gown, put it on, order my favorite food and watch the Tonys!!"
Aww- baby- that's so pathetic...it's cute!
I just watched the Tone-Tones with friends...all the closet gays in my neighborhood would ban together for that ONE night of gaydom. Then we'd go back to playing baseball and meeting behind the dumpster near practice field.
I can admit that after the Tony's...I STILL go in my shower and accept my award. SH*T- I do that almost 3 times a week. I'll accept any award, really.
I even was gonna buy a fake Tony award because the Suave bottle isn't realistic enough.
But no prom dresses in my future. I think I'll save the dressing up for when I'm REALLY attending. :)

that's awesome!!! I'm totally pulling out my old prom dress for the Tonys :). I'll be on a road trip to the maritimes, but I'm DEFINATELY staying in and watching them!
All through highschool I used to tape the Tonys and watch them all year long in anticipation for the next ones. The performances are just so good!!!
SO SUPER EXCITED about Defying Gravity- I finally get to see Wicked on July 30- after Chenoweth is gone
but the others will still be there!
MatthewAddison, thank you.
That is one beautiful geeky moment.
"And the Suave bottle goes to..."
Everyone here is so funny! I wish I had broadway-lovin friends to invite over on Tony night. My family will make fun of me endlessly if I wear my formal dress to watch the show...but I'm tempted now. Thats just adorable.
