Obama reached out and invited him but the little spoiled brat is still not happy.I guess Thursday is his golf day.
'Bush's visit to the rubble after the 9/11 attacks was the emotional high point of his presidency, but associates say the invitation to return with his successor was a non-starter. "He doesn't feel personally snubbed and appreciates the invitation, but Obama's claiming all the credit and a lot of other people deserve some of it," the source added. "Obama gave no credit whatsoever to the intelligence infrastructure the Bush administration set up that is being hailed from the left and right as setting in motion the operation that got Bin Laden. It rubbed Bush the wrong way." Bush spokesman David Sherzer said Bush "appreciated the invite, but has chosen in his post-presidency to remain largely out of the spotlight." Associates familiar with his thinking say Bush does not believe Obama or his handlers wanted to exploit his presence. But the tag-team idea "was for the benefit of Obama, and Obama withheld credit from people Bush believes deserved it," a source said.'

Can someone explain to me why he feels he should get credit when he said he was not interested in finding him? He gave up.

Eh. One thing I give Bush credit for is staying out of the limelight since leaving office. He wrote his book, said what he had to say and that's it. You never really hear about him second guessing Obama.
He already congratulated Obama for getting Bin Laden. I think it was classy for Obama to invite him, and classy for Bush to say no and let him have his moment.
In Bush's defense I think he gave a pretty powerful speech at Sizzler

I agree with Erik. I think it was classy of Obama to invite him and though I would have been perfectly fine if Bush had accepted, he probably made the right decision.
and posts like that are why i once seriously considered adopting erik into the mambo family.
had bush accepted the invitation, the posts here would be, "how dare bush show his face after failing to get bin laden? who does he think he is coming to this!"
anonymous sources are great for someone with a grudge.
when i saw the news that he had declined the invitation, i thought that it was pretty much in line with everything else he has done post-presidency.
Exaclty, Papa. And I find that sort of thing stupid, no matter which side is engaging in it.
Hey, I said the right things, too! How come I don't get to be a Mambo?
reg, yer too cute to be a mambo.
and erik was first in line in the wayback machine.

Don't care if he goes or not. Don't understand why anyone would care.
I can't believe that was 7 years ago!
And for the record...I don't even think Bush is evil. But I do think that Karl Rove and Dick Cheney are both the Antichrist.
i thought the same thing, erik! about it being 7 years ago, not the anti-christ thing since they's my bffs.
I hate threads that compel me to agree with papa!
BTW, judging by the Tony nominations threads on the main board, the subject line should have read "GROUND ZERO SNUBBED!!!!!!!!!"
What MB said.
I don't think it is a big deal that Bush declined the invite: I actually think it show that he is not trying to take credit for the mission.
