So, I go to an arts highschool (majoring in Musical Theatre) and our musical this year is a revue of Seussical, Footloose, and A Chorus Line. I'm a grade 9, and normally I wouldn't be expecting to even get a call back, but they want Jojo and Gertrude to be played by grade 9s.

The only catch is to audition, we are using songs that were given to us for class (when the auditions are), and I'm using Much More from The Fantasticks. I'm going to keep it in my mix except for the parts where it doesn't make sense, but how else can I show them a bit of Gertrude in the song?

Give me a bottle of bourbon and half a chicken and I'll conquer the world!

This is absolutely no help to you whatsoever but it needs to be said:

What song are you singing for the audition? That would help to know this.
