How long does it take (on a good day) to get from LGA to Times Square? Which is the most efficient way? Bus, taxi, train(is there even a train?). Thanks!

Ugh, I'm trying to concoct this ridiculous plan, and it's as though the world is against me!

I believe the bus is $12 or $15, one way, is quick and easy.....I want to say 34 minutes? Maybe 40....both times I've done it, have loved it......goes right to Grand Central

On a good day... 40 minutes. Best thing to do is catch the M60 bus from LGA. Get off at 125th (ask the bus driver, tell em you want to catch the A train, he'll tell you where to get off). Get off, take the A train downtown to 42nd st. 40 minutes tops. 25 for the bus ride, 10 for the train... 5 minutes travel time in between.

that's how i always do it anyway. but I usually give myself an hour, just in case. good luck!

Once you're in the cab, about 25 - 35 min is my guess depending on WHEN you're traveling. use mapquest.

i've done it with 2 large suitcases. the m60 is full of ppl coming and going to the airport, so suitcases are the norm. its really just get on a bus, get on a train, and your there. for $4. at least you have options to choose from now!

Thanks!
I'm trying to figure out if I can take a flight that gets me in at 7 and be on time for an 8 pm show. AHH!

Cabs are expensive....

Plus you want to plan for possible delays.

yeah, you're pushing it trying to get to an 8 o'clock curtain. It'll take you a good 15-20 minutes just to get off the plane and out of the airport.

I always get one of the airport shuttle buses to Grand Central or Port Authority. Someone mentioned this already. It's about 15 bucks and REALLY easy.

Good luck, have fun.

Yeah, that just ain't gonna happen. Even if you take a cab, which would probably be the fastest, you still have to get out of the airport and get the cab, which everyone else is fighting to do, too. Are you bringing bags? Because then you have to wait for baggage claim. And where will you stow your stuff during the show?

I wouldn't even do it with a 6 p.m. flight. Like others have said, you have the chance for delays, particularly that late in the day. Traffic is going to be heavy at that time. Plus, if you have luggage, you'll want to check into your hotel first. And you don't want to end up eating that show ticket.

Get in at 5 p.m. at the absolute latest. And even that's really pushing it.

I usually take a car service, it's about $30 from LGA to anywhere in Manhattan, they are waiting for you when you get to the airport (just call when you get off the plane and they'll meet you by baggage claim, no waiting for a cab). The drive can be done very quickly- Go over the triboro and down the FDR drive, then crosstown on 42nd. I've done it in 20 mins or so, it's great. Plus you don't have to worry about a meter running since it's preset, and it's a nice ride.

And car services usually smell slightly better re: Getting from LGA to Times Square-Info please!

If you're planning to get into NYC at 7 PM you are cutting things much too close. What happens if your flight is delayed? Right now we're experiencing torrential rain in NY. It's slowing things down greatly. Roads that are normally a breeze to travel on are flooded and impossible to pass. This could quadruple your travel time from LGA. I'm not kidding.

My suggestion: Plan to arrive the day before you are seeing whatever show you have tickets for. If everything is fine and you get in on time, you can take potluck at the TKTS Booth on the night before your big show.

Trust me, I travel quite a bit and I speak from experience.

Thanks for all the info, guys. I'm still not quite sure what I'm going to do. It's really complicated, because I want to see See What I Wanna See, but OF COURSE it's not playing the weekend I'm going to be there, which is a three-day weekend for me. I was thinking I could take a Thursday afternoon flight, but the only one that would get me there before the show actually starts, and leave at a time I wouldn't have to miss school for (which my parents will NOT let me do) gets in at 7. So I'm debating.
*grumble*

What weekend are they not performing? Oh, is it the 17th or whatever?
