Ghostbusters Game Coming Fall 2008

"Vivendi Games is teaming with Sony Pictures to turn Ghostbusters into a video game franchise, reports Variety.

The first title in what the publisher hopes will be a series of "Ghostbusters" games is set for release in fall '08 from Vivendi's Sierra label.

All four members of the movie team -- Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis -- will be giving voice and likeness rights for the game. Some supporting castmembers have signed up as well, including William Atherton, Brian Doyle Murray and Annie Potts.

In addition, film writers Aykroyd and Ramis will pen a story for the game that takes place in the early '90s, after Ghostbusters II, during a new ghoul invasion of New York City.

Developer Terminal Reality is making a "Ghostbusters" game for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 aimed primarily at the core gamer demographic, while Red Fly Studios is making a version for PlayStation 2, Wii and DS designed more for families and casual gamers."

Maybe(LOL), but in all seriousness, I think they are recording the voices in January. There's a video of this guy interviewing Ernie Hudson at a convention in Germany and Ernie mentioned that they were supposed to record in January.

A) It's supposed to look like the movie. Dan Akyroyd said in an interview awhile back that the game was going to have the feel and the look of the first movie.

B) Ghostbusters was released in theaters in June 1984

"Very timely, the kids today love games based on 23 year old movies."

Namo, Namo, Namo. Where have you been? It seems like anything from the past is being redone in movies, tv, video games, etc. Scarface was made into a videogame awhile ago, as was The Godfather, there was a video game of The Thing. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was brought back as computer animated tv series and the a movie and game. So what's the harm in Ghostbusters being brought back as a videogame? Do I wish it was coming back as another movie? Yes, but this is just as good.
