Wasn't Helen Hunt always the poor man's Jodie Foster?

Yes she was. I'm their age so I can tell you that Jodie was doing features while Helen was doing really lame after-school specials. And Helen was the one with the influential showbiz family.

Hey hey hey! Helen Hunt was the Quarterback Queen. You leave her alone. She'll kick your ass.

I love that special where she tweaks on some drug and goes flying through the bathroom window on the 2nd floor of the school and lands on the ground.
Someone like Letterman used to show that clip on their show all the time. Friggin' hysterical.
Oh, and I one word for Jodie Foster fans: Candleshoe. LOVE IT!

Jodie Foster was my god growing up. The characters she played did everything from beat up Danny Partridge and Eddie Corbett to hanging out with Buffy and Jodie. Then she moved up to features. She was awesome.

Helen Hunt? Hmmm. She did afterschool specials and MOW's where she was either on some drug or was the only girl on some boy's team. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Jodie had more talent in the first knuckle of her little finger. Still does.

First of all, Rathnait, you're not alone. I loathed and despised As Good As It Gets and I booed and jeered when Helen Hunt won the Oscar, which should have gone to Helena Bonham Carter for Wings Of The Dove.

But as far as tearjerkers go, I realise I am a little late with this, but Dancer In The Dark. I have never cried so hard at a movie before or (mercifully) since. I was still crying 30 minutes later in the cab on the way home. It destroyed me.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Rath, I am not really an As Good As It Gets Fan, either.

I think it was decent but I did not appreciate Helen Hunt getting the oscar for it. Call me crazy, but I think it should have gone to Kate Winslet. How could their roles have even been in the same category?

Um...this may not be a tearjerker for everyone else, but I sobbed like a baby in Cast Away.....when he lost Wilson.

"What Dreams May Come" very stirring, imagery haunting, different levels of understanding, very poignant. I sat through the final credits just overwhelmed.

Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

beacon, don't get me started with that movie. I think that might just be the most depressing film ever made. And also one of the most beautiful.
