"He's cashing in on 9/11, working with Karl Rove's henchmen and in cahoots with a Swift Boat-style attack on Hillary. Will Rudy Giuliani be Bush III?"

Is he worse than Bush? I dont know that that's possible, but I imagine he'll play the 0911 card as much as he possibly can during the campaign.

And frankly that's turning into a 21st century "Boy Who Cried Wolf" saga.

Maybe someone should remind people that 9/11 happened on his watch. If he is so great, he should have been able to prevent it.

Rudy's approval ratings were in the tank and everyone was tired of him. Then came 9/11 and all of a sudden he was "America's Mayor". Let's not forget how he tried to get his term extended so he could stay in office illegally. And he carried on an affair in front of his family, while still married and while telling the rest of us how we should live moral lives. And that lisp! I can't stand hearing Bush and his sing song delivery. Imagine Rudy and his lisp repeating the same B.S. over and over again.

Ho won't be the nominee. It will be Fred Thompson.

I'm still thinking it will be Romney, but that whole Mormon thing might be too much for the Christian Wackadoos to get behind. Where does Thompson stand on the whole religion thing?

On the other hand, I suspect that Sauron has yet to reveal his greatest weapon...

Giuliani isn't a stupid man. Bush is. Giuliani is also gay-friendly. Bush isn't.

Giuliani is an in-your-face politician. (The NYS teachers learned all about that!). Bush is a sneak.

Do I like Rudy Giuliani? No. However, I have to set the record straight.

Giuliani is gay-friendly only to the extent that he requires votes. If he wasn't too stubborn to reverse himself on all the "gay-friendly" stuff he had to do to get elected Mayor of New York, he'd do it. Alas, consistency in this regard will probably cost him the nomination. That and his not being a WASP that the Christian Wackadoos can get behind.

Roscoe is absolutely right.

And I beg to differ about Giuliani's stupidity. Publicly cuckolding your wife - in front of your young children - while you're mayor of a major city, planning to some day run for president of the country, is pretty damn stupid.

I said he was "intelligent", not "astute".

Giuliani is a great opera buff and I've had several nice conversations with the man backstage at the Met. He was articulate and even charming. I guess we related to each other on the levels of our Italian backgrounds.

That doesn't mean I'd vote for him, though.

Rudy should have stopped 9/11?

I have now heard it all. I could not accept him for a few reasons. He was good as mayor but his political career should have ended there . He does not have the temperment to be President

As far as making hay off 9/11, every politician from both parties are trying to get on the anti terror bandwagon. Lest we not forget, under Clintons watch, we had the first WTC attack, the USS Cole attack & others

Clinton was privy to intelligence reports on a daily basis while Guiliani was not so I respectfully disagree with blaming him for 9/11

Oh, I dont blame him for 0911, but I do believe that he's making himself into a Fearless Leader when all he did was stand there and grab the glory while everyone else was doing the work of organizing the rescues. I would imagine that, like the CEO of any large company or the president of any large democratic nation, he was more of an obstacle in the actual implementation of operations than anything else.

But that hasnt stopped him from grabbing as much glory for himself as possible.

Giuliani is a wild card for me. I think he will go with the right-minded ideals to get the votes. But if a Republican has to become the next President, out of the choices now, I would want it to be Giuliani. I don't think worse than Bush is possible, scary to even think about.

He happened to be the mayor of New York at the time of a terrorist attack on the city. Pure coincidence. He was autocratic and unpopular before that, but managed to hold himself together enough during the crisis to win plaudits in a press that was eagerly looking for heroes (deserved or not). Now he's attempting to ride those fifteen minutes of national fame to the White House. Highly unlikely.

Every New Yorker knows that Giuliani is tempermentally unsuited for the Presidency.

He's like Nixon, but without the brains.

Rudy, like Bush, would like nothing better than to be a dictator. He will always have to have his way.
Remember when he insisted on not allowing people to cross at the corners on Fifth Avenue? He blocked off the intersections to pedestrians and made people cross in the middle of the street. This caused a big backlash, yet he insisted he was right and would not listen to the citizens.

Never ever underestimate Rudy Giuliani. People have gone a lot further on a lot less. He just doesn't have the big White Republican Christian Wackadoo machinery behind him.

The only way Giuliani would get elected president is if someone super glued his lips shut. He has a way of sticking his foot in his mouth, the nasty , evil, little man

re: Giuliani: Worse Than Bush#21

Posted: 6/4/07 at 9:14pm

If sticking your foot in your mouth really had any effect on elections, Bush wouldn't be where he is.

No no no.

Giuliani will not get the nomination because he isn't White or Christian enough to appeal to the Psycho Christian Wackadoos who run the Republican Party.
