Glenn Beck is NOT STUPID. He's actually very smart, he knows how to make great wealth for himself by exploiting fear and arousing anger. The greater the controversy, the more he gets paid by Fox. Note how he never mentions the name of the person who is funding the building of the controversial Cordoba mosque a few blocks from ground zero. That is because that person is Saudi Prince Alwaleed who also happens to be Fox News major shareholder. They talk so much about American patriotism but is paid by a fake news company whose biggest shareholders are an Australian and a Saudi prince. I do not have any problems with the Saudi prince or Murdoch but under any other circumstances, Glenn Beck would have displayed the name of any other Muslim fundraiser on his blackboard while he is stoking fears of Muslims.
He is also using Hitler's form of propaganda of appealing to the lowest intellect and keep repeating slogans of your propaganda with no regard to truth. All Beck's practices can be traced to Chapter IV of Mein Kampf.
He is also very cleverly using religion to appeal to the masses. He knows most people do not read or understand the Bible so he takes things out of context and twist it to his purpose. I'm so glad there are Christians here who understand the teachings of Christ and what our Lord wants us to do - to love and not to hate; to forgive and not to judge and always to help the poor, the wretched, the sick. Read what our Lord Jesus actually says in John 4.
I have no problems with conservative policies; just don't falsely use the name of our Lord to build your wealth.
There should be checks and balances in our government but I fear, if Glenn Beck and his followers continue to appeal to more and more angry people, our country will be like Nazi Germany: full of anger and hatred and always trying to find a scapegoat. Note the FBI warning that the number of increasing hate groups pose the greatest threat to our nation - not Muslim extremists, not a socialist agenda, not homosexuals, not choice activists.
GOD HELP OUR NATION, AMEN.
The 'them' du jour whom the masses should fear is currently Muslims. They seem to have wrung everything they could from fear of immigrants, though that still seems to play well in some regions. And fearing gays is soooo 2008. However, it astounds me that more intelligent people don't point out the striking similarities between the religious fringe in the US and radical Islamists. Both twist the words of their holy book. Both use fear and intimidation. Both would favor theocracy. Both rely on indoctrination of the young and/or uneducated.
