Best Actress (Comedy) - Annette Bening (or Kate Winslet)
Best Actor (Comedy) - Jamie Foxx
Best Foreign Film - The Motorcycle Diaries (Or Engagement; tough category)
Best Supporting Actor - Thomas Haden Church
Best Supporting Actress - Virginia Madsen (or Cate Blanchett)
Best Director - Alexander Payne (Sideways) though this award rarely matches either Best Film winner
Best Screenplay - Charlie Kaufman (or Alexander Payne)
Best Score - Million Dollar Baby(I dunno lol)
Best Song - POTO
The TV categories are always tough--I just know that Desperate Housewives will win Best Comedy. Iron Jawed Angels will win Best TV Movie. Hilary Swank and Jamie Foxx may go home with two Golden Globes each.
The Phantom of the Opera for Film and Emmy Rossum for best actress. You had to have seen this coming. AHHH come on Hollywood Foreign Press agree with me..............
As far as Best Actress in the Drama category goes, I would bet on Imelda Staunton continuing her so far unbroken sweep for Vera Drake.
I don't understand why Eternal Sunshine is categorized as a comedy. I found it pretty depressing.
I agree with you.
I also hate that MUSICAL is grouped into COMEDY. They should just do away with the MUSICAL category and group the musical(s) from that year into what category they fall into - drama or comedy. I really don't understand why they need to separate them.
My guesses from what I have heard:
-BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
THE AVIATOR
-BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
Hilary Swank, MILLION DOLLAR BABY
• BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MOTION PICTURE - DRAMA
Leonardo DiCaprio, THE AVIATOR

• BEST DIRECTOR - MOTION PICTURE
MARTIN SCORSESE THE AVIATOR
• BEST SCREENPLAY - MOTION PICTURE
JOHN LOGAN THE AVIATOR
• BEST ORIGINAL SCORE - MOTION PICTURE
HOWARD SHORE THE AVIATOR
• BEST ORIGINAL SONG - MOTION PICTURE
"BELIEVE” - THE POLAR EXPRESS
RENThead, enLIGHist, Ozalot, Grobanite, Ringer, Pickwick LW, Wicked, Lost, American Dreams, West Wing
Lea S. Hugh J. Adam P. Idina M. Matt M. Taye D.
The score to THE AVIATOR is wretched! I would love to see FINDING NEVERLAND win this - the music really is remarkable.
I would mind if MILLION DOLLAR BABY won, although it's not as great as FN's score.
My predictions:
BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA
THE AVIATOR

“LEARN TO BE LONELY” - THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (ugh)
You think POTO will win best song? I assume you don't like it (ugh), but I seriously think it's an awful awful song. The lyrics are terrible, and it sounds like a reject from JOSEPH.

Picture (Drama)
WW: Not sure
SW: The Aviator
Picture (Musical/Comedy)
WW: probably Sideways
SW: Sideways or Phantom

Interesting choices proving it is still a tough race to predict. When in doubt, though, the Golden Globes rarely match up writing, directing, and picture.
You think POTO will win best song? I assume you don't like it (ugh), but I seriously think it's an awful awful song. The lyrics are terrible, and it sounds like a reject from JOSEPH.
I think those journalists who vote for the Golden Globes will look at the name ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER and vote for the song without having ever heard it.
Then again, the movie has received such horrifying reviews that the voters probably already regret nominating PHANTOM for Best Musical/Comedy, so they may steer clear of the movie altogether.
You know, it's quite possible that there are people out there who enjoyed the film. Just a possibility...
There are people who loved Battlefield Earth and Ishtar--what's your point?
Picture (drama): Million Dollar Baby or the Aviator
Picture (comedy or musical): Sideways
Director: Eastwood or Scorsese
Actor (Drama): DiCaprio
Actress: Imelda Staunton or Hillary Swank
Actor (c/m): Paul Giamatti
Actress: Annette Bening
Foreign language: A Very Long Engagement
Supporting Actress: Nathalie Portment or Cate Blanchett
Supporting Actor: Thomas Hayden Church
Screenplay: Charlie Kaufmann
I've listed my first choice first.
jrb_actor-
Are you seriously comparing "Phantom..." with "Battlefield Earth"? The only awards that "Battlefield..." won were the Razzies, let alone the Golden Globes, Broadcast Film Critics, or International Press Academy.
I'm seeing Phantom tomorrow (I'll post my review), but from the reviews I've read, this is 2004's BATTLEFIELD EARTH.
I for one thoroughly disliked Phantom the stage show.
But I really enjoyed the film. It stopped taking itself so seriously, and no longer tried to make an implausible story seem realistic. This was a thoroughly enjoyable film, and I hope it makes some profit.
I reviewed it after I saw it a couple of days ago:
