Marion Cotillard should have been nominated for Best Actress in a Drama, not Musical/Comedy. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association seems to think that any movie made ABOUT a musician qualifies it as a musical (i.e.,
Ray). Had she been nominated where she belongs, Linney probably would've scored a much-deserved nomination for
The Savages.
I saw
Juno last night and finally understand the hype. The film is near-perfect, and I hope that it wins Best Musical/Comedy Picture. Jennifer Garner should have been nominated for Best Supporting Actress. Some of her facial expressions were more considered and nuanced than some entire performances I've seen.
