My camera, a Kodak Easyshare C330, recently broke a few weeks ago. the lens won't come out when I turn it on. I got it on my brithday this year (1/10/06). I would send it back to Kodak but I don't have the reciept. I don't think they'll fix it anyways, because it's kinda my fault that it won't work. If they do, they'll probably charge me money, which I kinda don't have much of. Does anybody know of any good/cheap places I can mail it to, so I can get it fixed?
oye! Call Sony!! You don't need a receipt, you can just give them the serial number. You have a 1 year usually and they will cover most things... though I don't know about your malfunction
The cheapest repair is a replacement. Unfortunatly modern technology is built-to-break, so it's probably the best option for you. Quotes/Parts/labor/shipping usually add up to about the same cost as a new product. If repair is the only option, at least Sony can get you legit repair.
Are you sure Sony will want to fix my Kodak camera?
I've heard that Best Buy will make an estimate of how much the reapir will cost & send it off to get it fixed. Is this true? Has anybody done this before?
I've not tried them before, but I have tried others. I'm on my 3rd (or is it 4th?) digital camera and the word I've gotten from everybody is that they're basically unfixable. Each has died from various ailments and none could be brought back to life. Most digital cams are extremely fragile and just won't stand up to the way we've used traditional cameras in the past.

I find that with small electronics (camcorders, digital cameras, DVD players, et al) that it's actually worth it to purchase the extended warranty. I've gone through 3 portable DVD players, 2 DVD players, 2 cameras and 2 TVs, all covered by the warranty.
Usually, they say just go pick out a new one in the same price category. Except for the Kodak camera. That I had to send back, and ultimately got another.
BTW: in each case, the product default was a manufacturer flaw: something broke or malfunctioned before it was supposed to.
And I was able to purchase the ext warranty after some were given as gifts.
Yes! Always buy the warrenty! I know in the old days it was robbery, but places like Best Buy just replace anything. It's cool for Ipods cause they just give you the nextGen.
Modern technology is designed to break trust me.
Find out where it was purchased.
Costco take just about everything back.
If not, call Kodak.
and, speaking as someone who as 5 digital cameras now, 2-Kodak, 1-Canon, 1-Sony, and 1-Panasonic (all working)....I think you'll find it cheaper to buy a new one than to repair an old one, especially as yours wasn't that expensive to begin with.
It will cost at least $10 to ship to anyone and to insure, that right there to and from is $20.
Kodak is selling this on their website for $129, Amazon.com is selling it for as little as $114.
I doubt you'll find anyone able to repair it for less.
I have a broken SONY digital. I called both Sony and a local camera repair and they both gave me the same cost-$180.
You might as well buy a new camera~
lesson learned: keep all receipts.....
of course I just had to buy a new 2nd office chair as I didn't keep that receipt, so...I can relate. Good luck.
Lesson definitely learned, Elphaba. I kinda aussmed my parents or my sister (she's the one who bought it for me) kept the receipt because it was a gift & it was kinda a big purchase I suppose, but I guess not.
Good luck w/ your chair!
oh I'll live, it was a cheap chair which is maybe why it crapped out on my......good luck with the camera
Just wanted to say that to repair my camera, it'll cost $80. & If I send it in & decide not to get it fix, I still have to pay $50. If I have the proof of purchase if it goes w/ the warranty it won't cost me anything. But then if they decide that it's broken because I dropped it or exposed it to liquid, they'll charge me the $80.
Another question: Does proof of purchase mean the receipt or the little bar code thing-y on the box?
receipt
and again picture, just get a new camera, especially now, they're all on sale
