Beautiful, beautiful send off for Desperate Housewives!
I don't want to ruin it for those on the west coast, but oh boy, am I emotional right now.
I enjoyed it too. Can't wait for the East Coast to see it so we can discuss.
I admit, I was more than ready to let the show go, but I did find the finale surprisingly touching. Episode title? "Finishing the Hat". I guess the habit of naming each episode for a Sondheim quote was wiating to save that one for last.
Pretty grand finale - though I will admit the 2nd hour lost me for a bit.
I liked the episode for the most part, but the last 15 minutes or so were a jumbled mess.
Where was Bree's son in all of this? Surprised he wasn't around for the final episode.
I liked how the trial proceeded. Vanessa Williams was a hoot.
Also, the scene with Bree and Mrs. McClusky was kind of odd. It looked like part of the scene had to be reshot because it appeared like Bree was filmed in front of a green screen and wasn't talking directly to anyone. It was very odd and noticable that something wasn't quite right with it.
***SPOILER AHEAD FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T WATCHED YET****
I'm not sure I liked Susan driving past the spirits of the characters who met their demise. One glaring omission was that of Edie (but understandably so with her suit against the show and Marc Cherry).
I did like how they wrapped up the 4 friends never meeting up to play poker again. That's reality and the "best of intentions" line was very fitting.
Now I'm just down to two shows that I watch regularly: Revenge and Smash.
I thought it was tired.
Where was Bree's son in all of this? Surprised he wasn't around for the final episode.
One would think him or his sister would show up for their mother's murder trial.

Maybe I missed him but I didn't see Rex either. Or was he standing with George (Roger Bart) and I was just so focused on him that I missed Rex? I'll have to watch it on demand and see if I can find the people I missed.
Did anyone else want to know what was in the box that the woman who bought Susan's house had? Dammit, I was curious! lol And, I wanted to know if Susan ever remarried.

It was a great ending! Kinda sad that they really didn't stay friends, but that's life I guess.
During the ending with the lady and her box, all I could think was "spin off!!" Lol.
"Where was Bree's son in all of this? Surprised he wasn't around for the final episode. "
Stuff like this has been a problem with the show for a LONG time. In this case, they bring on his character once a year it seems which is fine I guess--but when he doesn't show up for the trial, for example, they could at least give long time fans a crumb and some throwaway comment about why he can't make it--but the show has a bad habit of dropping characters and stories, even ones who should still have a connection to the show.
I'mn not sure if it was mean spirited or funny to have it look like (well to anyone who has been living under a rock) Edie was coming back with the shot of the shoes, and then have it be Dana Delaney's character (whose name I can't even remember which I guess shows how much interest I've lost in the show over the years).
Marc Cherry's Hitchcock cameo was... fine I guess (as one of the moving men). He must be pissed that ABC didn't pick up his Devious Maids (which I admit I was only looking forward to really because of Susan Lucci).
We've still got four weeks to go in the UK; it doesn't feel like it's coming to an end but very much business-as-usual, by Wisteria Lane standards.
I'm glad to read it's a worthwhile send-off.

The first hour was more satisfying than the second, but it was a good sendoff for a show that should have been axed several seasons ago.
Eris--Rex was there.
I missed the first season... so can someone tell me who the young boy was next to Mary Alice? I don't believe it was her son... thanks.
*SPOILER*
In a way, I like that the show ended with its integrity. If they stayed friends, it would've allowed for a reunion in several years.
I get so muddled about the last... well 5 or so seasons honestly--partly due to waning interest, and just because they kept on going back to elements of that initial mystery. I was confused who the boy besides Mrs McClusky was, but I assume it was a son she had who died (was killed?) at *some* point in the show...
While I do think it had shaky years (this seasonwas one of the better later seasons, admittedly) I appreciate that too, and Marc Cherry's promise that we'll never see the women reunited to visit Abu Dhabi in a few years

I like to think that Susan and Lynette would stay in contact since they share a granddaughter.
No, SUsan's going to keep the baby and her daughter far away from the Scavo's, so Julie can marry the cute doctor from True Blood she wanted to set her up with (nevermind that she's not going to be living by where he works anymore anyway... Oh Susan, clueless till the very end).
Eris--Rex was there.
Thanks, I just missed him then.

No one ever said they didn't stay friends - just that they never saw sat down for poker as a foursome again. There's no reason why they didn't stay friends. Email, phone, etc. They absolutely could have stayed in contact. Susan and Lynette especially. And no one suggested that none of them ever saw the others again. They could have seen each other in pairs or three. Just that all four were never together. I'd prefer to think that they did stay in contact.

Hey, he was cute. I'd have a long-distance relationship with him

Yes I'm sure they stayed in contact, but it wouldn't be the same without all four of them together. With Susan wherever she was, Lynette in NYC, Gaby in Cali, and Bree in Kentucky, it would be hard to get together. It has been exactly one year since I've seen one of my best friends (May 14, 2012) and she lives two hours away. Unfortunately, that's how life works.
"Hey, he was cute. I'd have a long-distance relationship with him "
He was cute--it was driving me and my friend crazy trying to figure out how we recognized him until we realized he was one of the crazy anti vampire soldiers in season two of True Blood.
I just watched it tonight and thought the ending was beautiful with everyone who had passed on (and damn, there were a lot of them. The mortality rate on Wisteria Lane is HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH) watching over and hoping the living are happy. I think that's a really nice message and a great way to remind everyone of the past eight years. The show has had problems for a long time, I'll admit but I thought as far as final episodes go, this one was extremely satisfying.
I haven't watched it in years and happen to be the only thing on in my hotel room, so I watched in and was amazed at how I seemed to know everything that was going on and was able to follow it.
I laughed out loud at Marc Cherry's cameo. Please, bitch, at least act like the box had something in it!
And Jan Maxwell looks EXACTLY like Felicity Huffman!
You mean it's not in the box that was tucked away at the end?
LOL. Imagine Mary Alice -
"Yes...we all have secrets. Secrets we hope in vain will never be uncovered. Like the new neighbor with Jan Maxwell's Emmy hidden in a box. But some Emmys are too bright to stay hidden forever and it can only be a matter of time before they are brought...into the light."
