Okay, I exaggerate somewhat, and honestly I actually find this slightly amusing...

Type "She invented" into the google search engine. And check out google's suggested correction.

I know it's just the combination of spell-check and programming, but still frustrating nonetheless.

That is a little amusing, but I must wonder why would anyone be typing "he invented" or "she invented" except to check for things like this. Seems a bit like a setup.

It is actually a pretty widely known issue that is easy to stumble across and Colleen was merely alerting the BWW community to the existing discourse.

I think its funnier that the first link listed is digg.com discussing this very thing. I'm surprised this thread isnt the second link.

Try typing in 'aSshole', then click 'I'm Feeling Lucky' button....

Well.... I know this isn't going to be a PC acknowledgment, but more things throughout the whole of human history HAVE been invented by men than by women (or at least it goes down that way in the historical record). Women were subjugated for hundreds, nay, thousands of years. Google isn't sexist -- its search algorithm is reflective of history and the most common search terms, not a judgment on the capability of women to invent things.
