I'm auditioning as a transfer student to Marymount Manhattan and I am singing two songs. The first one will be "What Do I need With Love" from Millie...the second, I haven't found yet. My best friend who is in the musical theatre dept told me to sing one song that shows off your belt and one that shows off your range. I want a great tenor song that will show off my higher range and that is more of a ballad and maybe somewhat of a classic musical theatre piece. What Do I need With Love will be my belting song. I have some ideas, and I'm working with my voice teacher, but I just wanted to hear some ideas from you guys!

"Lonely House" from STREET SCENE by Kurt Weill. Has a couple of full-voiced A-flats and a B-flat (can be full or falsetto) near the end.
There are several performances on YouTube - check out Raul Esparza's.

Why God Why? Amazing belt if done correctly!
^^I think "Why God" is cliche too. Typical tenor musical theatre.
Hmm...I would suggest something gorgeous like "Giants In The Sky" or "Bring Him Home", but that's HIGHLY cliche...
*lightbulb*
"Proud Lady" from The Baker's Wife
If you don't like that one, post and i'll think of another one
Look at the entire score of Myths and Hymns by Adam Guettel. Super high, super beautiful music.

Here's an oldie that isn't sung much these days.
"To Each His Dulcinea" from Man of La Mancha.
Written for Robert Rounseville's range, this is a beauty.
For that matter listen to the original Candide from 1956. He played the title role.
"Maria" from West Side Story.
Also shows you coping with hard but beautiful intervals!
Maria= Cliche
