Which movie actors have never been nominated for an Oscar, despite their OUTSTANDING talent?

Stanley Tucci
Jim Carrey
Dick Van Dyke
Paul Giamatti

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Carol Channing

I'd have to second Gary Oldman!

BSoBW2: I punched Sondheim in the face after I saw Wicked and said, "Why couldn't you write like that!?"

As many amazing roles as Gary's done.. *Sigh* He's still an amazing actor, the only thing he has going against him right now is movie selection. None of the movies he's done lately are really Oscar-worthy. Of course, if Johnny Depp can get a nod for PotC...

Kevin Bacon was at least as good as Tim Robbins and Sean Penn in Mystic River, who both won Oscars.. Seeing that movie a second time makes me think it was not Tim's best performance...that would be "Shawskank". Morgan Freeman should have won for that movie, too...and Anthony Hopkins for "Remains of the Day" and Jeff Bridges should have been nominated for "The Big Lebowski"...don't get me started.

I would have to agree with Jennifer Jason Leigh.
Has anyone here seen her performance in "Last Exit to Brooklyn"?

I'll second PSH...I was just going to mention him, but I guess JRB beat me to it!

But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

I'll second Jennifer Jason Leigh and Philip Seymour Hoffman and add Billy Crudup, Christian Bale, Parker Posey and Alfred Molina. I'll add more as I think of them.

Oooh, good choices, MEF!! Hmmm...I need to come up with some of my own rather than just saying "good picks." Ummm...how about Mary-Louise Parker? Though it seems like a lot of her film work isn't necessarily Oscar (nod) worthy.

ETA: Has William H. Macy gotten an Oscar nomination? I don't think so...If not, I'll add him to my list too!

Marquise, I was actually thinking of "Last Exit to Brooklyn" when I suggested Jennifer Jason Leigh...she was devastating in that movie.
