I just finished my uber-sh*tty summer reading project.
THANK GOD
I can now enjoy my remaining 5 days of summer in peace.
No more Sophocles, no more logotherapy, no more of my mother nagging me every five minutes to get it done...Ah...

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST was 2 1/2 hours that I want back.
Christ, that movie blew. Nothing but Mel Gibson's attempt to make a film gorier than FRIDAY THE 13th but get every religious person in America to go see it so he can line his pockets even more.

Posted: 9/2/04 at 12:34amI like what Mel Gibson was going for and I LOVED how was in hebrew and aromaic (sp?) and I loved the cinematography but I think it was majorly overhyped whiched caused me not to enjoy more than I wanted to. Also, about the 100th time Jesus fell while carrying the cross, I almost yelled "WE GET IT ALREADY." That's terrible but I mean come on. But, I do thing that Jim Cavizal (sp?) should at least get an Oscar nod for his portrayal. I loved him in FREQUENCY and I loved him in this movie

I am not a Mel Gibson fan.
He can be a great actor and a great director, but I'm not a fan of his.
However, I would say I disagree with you on this one Matt.
I beleive he made the movie solely because he felt it should be made. I don not think he was seeing green at all. In fact, he took a huge financial gamble in producing the film. He could have lost a lot of money for making the film he wanted to make. Fortunately for him, the gamble paid back his initial investment AND THEN SOME. But that was all by chance. I do not think for a second that he made this film for money.

"We get it already!"
I couldn't have said it better myself. 150 minutes of him being beaten. After a while I was like, DAMN! If he ain't dead yet, let's see how much more he can take! People were sobbing when it was over and I was rolling my eyes and wishing I had seen CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE DRAMA QUEEN.

Oh, Zepka.....you should know by now. LOL
I remember on VH1 BEST WEEK EVER, they did a segment and the end it said there was going to be a sequel.
PASSION OF THE CHRIST 2: THIS TIME HE WON'T BE CROSSED.
That is soooooo funny. Anyway, the ending is the purpose of the whole christian belief. But, that is another thread

Posted: 9/2/04 at 12:49ammatt, is there anything you don't feel the need to argue about or put down?

Okay...I NEVER throw my religion in another person's face. It is their business, not mine. And I have no right to tell them what to believe.
But just fyi, MERE CHRISTAINITY by C.S. Lewis is one of the finest books I have ever read.
