Does anyone know when the Soundtrack will be available for purchase? I keep hearing conflicting dates!
Thanks!
Thursday morning. Two songs are already available. Chasing Cars went up today on iTunes and The Story is on Sara's EP which was released on Sunday.

Yeah, I like it. I think my favorite singers were Sara Ramirez (Of course) and Kevin McKidd. Chyler Leigh reminds me of Shakira for some reason on Breathe. My favorite songs are How to Save a Life, The Story, and Universe and U. Despite Sara and Kevin being awesome, Chasing Cars still bores me. It's just the song, I guess.
I love How To Save a Life in some parts. Jessica Capshaw sounds really flat in verse 2, though. (She just doesn't have a very pleasant voice. Pairing her for a duet with Sara is just mean.) I love Ellen Pompeo's little verse. lol I am such a goofy fangirl. I like Running on Sunshine, but can't figure out all the voices, yet. Have you been watching all the Sara press?
Of course I have. Actually, I managed to get over to Regis and Kelly on Tuesday morning for the standby line and got in. Then by some miracle, the girls sitting in the front row of my section had a sign for her, so she came over after they went off the air, and I got to talk to her too. :)

This episode was pretty horrible.
I ditto Phyllis.
I SAID:
We're just getting ready to watch, but I don't have much hope for it.
Edited to add: Oh GOD, this is horrible. It would have been a good episode without the music or if they had used it in the background as opposed to everyone singing along. Bah. I am glad it's just one episode.

Unwatchable. Cringeworthy.
The only way to do a musical episode is to do it tongue-in-cheek, like they did with Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I actually enjoyed it. Oh well.

All the songs seemed to be tenuously tied to the action at best, and they all pretty much sounded the same to me. It was mostly embarrassing to watch.
And did Kate Walsh owe Shonda Rhimes a favor or something? What a thankless guest spot.

Don't watch the show, but being a musical I felt a bit obligated to watch this episode. The songs were good. That's about it.
Phyllis-I think that was the point of the songs. It wasn't supposed to be anything really over the top with them.

So basically, Sara Ramirez is a goddess and completely carried that episode <3
The rest of the musical aspect of the episode? Not so great. I mean I still really got into the episode over all because of the emotion of it and the intensity, but I think it would have worked a LOT better if they'd just stuck to Callie doing all the singing. And not even just because Sara has by FAR the best voice, but because the singing actually worked quite effectively from the Callie perspective. It was only when the others randomly started joining in that it got majorly awkward
Oh and also the directing at times was quite weak. Like with the The Story scene, it was of course vocally incredible, but would have been even more effective if they'd just kept Callie in the hospital room! By having her go out into the halls and stuff, with nothing to play to, it kind of forced it to become a "diva moment" and took you out of the emotion of it all. So yeah, things like that could have been done better.
But I definitely didn't think it was a horrible episode or anything- in fact I've watched all of like two Grey's episodes since about midway through season 5 and this episode single handedly got me back to wanting to watch it again! haha. But I did think the musical aspect of it wasn't so great- there were times when it actually took away from the impact of the episode rather than contributing to it.
Still, Sara... just.. unbelievable! Can she sing forever and ever please?
Since my posts never show up the first time...
I think the episode would have been far better if we could have had all that drama without the music or maybe if Callie just sang a bit. The songs took me out of the medical drama. I also missed much of the dialogue. If you listen closely, Mark and Arizona say some really MEAN (and ridiculous) things to each other. "We screwed, get over it." "We can screw again and make another baby." WTF??? I am looking much more forward to next week.
There actually isn't a new episode until the 28th. I know, cruel after Callie wakes up and the baby is alive, but not well. I am intrigued now to where the Mark and Arizona dynamic will go. They both were pretty stupid in the fight, so I can't say who was more right.
AND AGAIN:
Good lord. Why wouldn't they just play an episode next week (you know... like mental sorbet?) then skip a couple of weeks when this couple of months time jump is coming between now and like three episodes from now?
