So... I'm a little out of my league here with having to sing an actual (non-Broadway) rock song for a HAIR audition, and I am imploring the fantastic members of BWW.com to maybe offer some assistance...?

I'm a woman, obviously, and I need one that I can belt out... preferably in similar style to the show.

Any suggestions???

Love, Miss Britt

A song by The Beatles would work for both Hair and SA.

Ask your parents. It sounds weird, but they were alive during the 60s and 70s and you were not. Most young people's conception of music from that period are the most popular songs or songs used in movies like "Almost Famous" and the like. The people you're auditioning for will most likely be old enough to remember the 60s and 70s as well, so it's always nice to surprise them.

Is this the audition in Wilmington by any chance? I'm also trying to find a good song...as much as I live for rock music, I can't find something I feel comfortable with for this audition....good luck!

Parent here- actually alive in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, to the present. When I hear female rock- instantly I think of Pat Benatar- just about anything but I love "Heartbreaker" and "You Better Run". Also like songs by Heart and Stevie Nicks. Love "To Sir with Love" by Lulu. Janis Joplin's "Take Another Piece of My Heart". "Open Arms" by Journey is good. I'll have to think of more later. Check into Dusty Springfield, Joan Jett, Bonnie Raitt (more bluesy), .... hope this helps. If I think of more- I'll reply. Break a leg to you all!
