re: HELP!!! Oklahoma audition TOMORROW!

You switched keys a few times, but I'm sure with piano you'll be fine.
My only advice is to open up more and lighten up a bit if you're going for Laurie.
You might want to go for Ado Annie. For that, you use a more belty character voice.

Yeah. I have a habit of doing that a capella. XD.

I'm going for Laurie, because I'm not (for lack of a better word) slutty enough for Annie.

You really don't need to be slutty for Ado Annie though!! When I was in Oklahoma, the girl we had played her as being and innocent girl who just.."can't say no"...

it worked!!!

I agree with Juliash. I like to think of Ado as more of a girl who just doesn't know any better rather than a slutty girl. If your voice is suited for the role, don't exclude it. Audition for both roles! What could it hurt, right?

You have got to bring more character to your presentation. Relax and become Laurie. I agree with bwaylvsong- you did change keys and you have to open up. You did at least stay in tune. Totally agree about Ado Annie- she is NOT a slut. This show was written during an innocent time. She is flirty- not slutty! Good luck and keep us posted!

re: HELP!!! Oklahoma audition TOMORROW!

Well, I think I did pretty well, but I got the part of on of "Laurie's Girls". I'm pretty sure it's because I had a lead last year, and the directors are giving everyone a chance for a big (ish) part, because the girl who played Smitty is one of "Annie's Girls."

But I guess it's alright though, because dancing isn't my strong point, and Laurie=Ballet.

Thanks for keeping us posted and congrats for getting into the show! (p.s.- Laurie doesn't have to dance- it is a dream sequence. In the movie- Shirley Jones didn't dance it)
