Posted: 7/21/07 at 5:03pmEach one succeeds within the mediums they were created for. The great thing about HAIRSPRAY is that no two HAIRSPRAYs are totally alike. The story has evolved from it's original 1988 version all the way through to this new 2007 incarnation. The source material is so strong that it lends itself to be successfully adapted into any medium. I wouldn't be surprised if HAIRSPRAY the video game was in the works somewhere down the line.

Posted: 7/21/07 at 5:18pmI wouldn't change either; both are successful in their own medium. I have to admit, however, that I believe every single change made to bring the theatrical version to screen worked to perfection.

Posted: 7/21/07 at 7:50pmI'm always sceptical of the penny character in any thing other than the OBC because of her vocals in YOU CANT STOP THE BEAT. Her voice is like heaven.

I thought for a second "oh my God HDT is posting in a non political thread" and then he had to go and mention SICKo and prove that he just can't help himself. Oy.
As for Hairspray, I'll wait until I see the film but since the genres are so different I will probably not make a comparison, unless the film really sucks and from all accounts that is not the case.

Posted: 7/22/07 at 12:00pmFor me it's like choosing between your children! I love them both the same.
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofure: Hairspray:Stage or Film?#11
