Today, the beautiful source of all that's good in American Theater turns 69.
All who saw her Princess Puffer in EDWIN DROOD and her star turn in SAME TIME, NEXT YEAR will carry the memories of her performances to their graves.
What grace! What charm! What nuance!
Happy Birthday to Loretta---and may she return to Broadway soon!

A bump for La Swit.

I don't think anyone cares.

That's because they're too young and La Swit is like a fine wine that has to be savored. All the youngins want is Diet Coke WIth Lime.

What would would Carol Channing say if she knew you liked La Swit?

Having only seen her on M*A*S*H, I don't believe that I'm qualified to post in this thread.

You've only seen her in MASH? You don't know how this divine lady lights up a Broadway stage and illumintes every role she plays.
Thank you Wikipedia for bringing this information to the masses:
Swit is 5'6" (1.68 m) and wears a U.S. size 7 shoe.
In her 1986 book Needlepoint Scrapbook, she declares that "We are Ms. Pac-Man fanatics in our house." and has owned a Ms. Pac-Man machine. The book also includes a Ms. Pac-Man needslepoint(sic) design.

Ms Pac-Man is amazing.
But wait - here's something strange-
'Swit married actor Dennis Holahan in 1983 and divorced him in 1985. She never remarried or had any children."
"Over the years she has owned horses, dogs and cats. Presently, she owns three cats and a horse."
"In her 1986 book Needlepoint Scrapbook, she declares that "We are Ms. Pac-Man fanatics in our house."
We?

The house is filled with ghosts
Or some rather talented horses, dogs, and cats.

What do you think I should send her for her birthday? I was thinking of one of my hand knit afghans or scarves.

Well, she lives in New Jersey, so anything's possible.

"We?"
Perhaps, she's "befriended" that enormous souse in the first picture I posted.
I would give an eyetooth to see that same souse playing Ms.Pac-Man. Especially a two-player round with Ms. Swit herself.
That's
Watching that would be like seeing her in Drood replacing Cleo Laine.
The equivalent of that performance has only been matched by David Hasellhof in Jekyll/Hyde.

La Swit was amazing in DROOD. I couldn't get enough of her performance in that show.
That's nice that someone appreciated it.
I thought it was dreadful.

How could you say it was dreadful? The five or six people who were sitting the the orchestra section with me loved it. They even gave her a standing ovulation?

I was going to say "remember when her house was taken over by a deranged gun-toting fan?" but then I realized that was actually Sharon Gless. Oh well, same difference.
Well, I've only seen her in M*A*S*H as well. But I still like her so... happy belated birthday to Loretta. :)

She's the pride of Passaic, NJ, Holy Rosary School, and Pope Pius XII HS!
Sto Lat!
