no. But I seem to remember reading how she starting writing notes for the book on napkins when in the coffee house

The original "take me out" song was written on a napkin. I can't remember the full song but everyone can sing the chorus.
I actually predicted that Snape was the Prince a bit of awhile into it, but NOT htat he would kill Dumbledore. Something tells me Snape isn't entirely evil. Ever since reading Chapter two and even the whole series, I feel like Dumbledore's death was planned between the two of them. For some reason, I'm attached to the idea of Snape being a on the Good side. And someone asked why, well I just think it was all to protect Harry.
DUMBELDORE!! I saw that coming from the beginning, ever since I heard someone dies. He was scuh a good wizard/man, but I knew that Harry had to face Voldemort on his own. RIP Albus!
Edit*: Oh and Malfoy, I honestly think the boy is a product of how he's been raised. Aren't we all?
Fun stuff: Pairings! A LITTLE convenient about Harry and Ginny but still cute. Would've liked to seen more Ron and Hermione. They're adorable! Luna and Neville is definitely coming in Book 7 - I REALLY like her character. She's an individual and she's smart and kind.
There's one subtly beautifiul line that affirmed my predictions about Dumbledore: "There is no need to grip too hard, I am merely guiding you." Rowling certainly has a way with words and allusions. I feel like there were terrorism hints, especially near the end. That may have been just me, though. Oh god, her writing is so naturally and stunning!
just finished and all i can say is i will be plunged into a deep state of depression for a long time... and i wont know why

If the paranoia and questionable arrests of the battle against the Death Eaters aren't allusions to, or at least inspired by, the War on Terror, I'd be extremely surprised.
I keep leaving this thread for too long and having to catch up on 100 comments at a time. Now my next two cents:
The revelation of Snape as the Half-Blood Prince was something I saw coming, but there were also so many comments about it being a girl's handwriting. We know the book was Snape's mother's, and could it be that the potions hints were hers, while the spells were his? Then again, the handwriting seems to be the same throughout...so maybe I'm way off.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict Malfoy, of all people, to be the future Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher (not next year, but ultimately). Two former or current Death Eaters have already had the position (Quirrel and Snape). Neville could end up teaching Sprout's class someday too.

I'm thinking that after Harry deafts Voldemorts (cause you know he has to) all the Death Eaters will be sent to Azkaban.

I wonder who'll guard Azkaban when all is said and done. You know they can't trust the Dementors to do it anymore.
For some reason I think it will be a friday the 13th type ending. I think that voldemort will be defeated - but perhaps there will be a question about a missing horcrux or some other "factor" that leaves is satisfied, but that everything isn't happily ever after. Perhaps someone else will take the place of Voldemort...
I like the idea of a not so happy ending. i'm not saying I want everyopne to die....but I don't want it to be all rainbows and butterflies. That would be lame.
OK ... Here is the really big question.... When is book 7 due?
I dont think there is a due date for it right now. I know there was 2 years between Order of the Pheonix and Half Blood Prince but there were like 3 or 4 year between Goblet of fire and Order of the Pheonix.. Let's just hope its sooner than later..
And I agree that it shouldn't be all sunshine and roses, that would ruin it.

Hopefully before we're dead.
hopefully before she's dead. That would suck if she died before teh book was finished.

No way it'll be fluffy bunnies and rainbows in Book 7. Maybe the defeat of evil will be close to total, but it won't come without a price. But really, we've gone from the most disturbing elements of the books being giant spiders and a guy with a face on the back of his head to the chilling scene of Harry and Dumbledore with the potion in the cave. I wouldn't worry about things being too happy in the next one.

Intriguing is that Book 6 is the only one where Voldemort doesn't even make an appearace - isn't that right? I could swear he's at least been in one chapter of at least all the previous 5 but I could be mistaken...

Hmm...was he in Azkaban? And does his diary Horcrux count in Chamber of Secrets? Or am I forgetting things?
He appears as Tom Riddle in Chamber of Secrets. So I guess you can say he was in this one since they did the whole memory thing too...
Does anyone think that JKR will ever write a prequel? Or do you think she's exhausted that possibility with all the flashbacks and stories told in the 6 (7) books...
He isn't in the 3rd.
He wasn't in Azkaban, but Tom Riddle was in Chambers so I guess that counts.
I don't know...I thought Dumbledore's death was a trick so I didn't believe it till they were in the hospital wing (talking about random things like..."You can't love me Tonks! I'm not normal!"..."Love conquers all or blah blah blah." Hello!? Dumbledore just DIED.) So I'm not that shocked and sad that Dumbledore died. Maybe I will be sad when I read it again eventually.
I still don't think Snape is evil. It's all part of Dumbledore's plan. That's probably what they were arguing about....that worse comes to worst, Snape has to kill him.
As for Draco, I think he will redeem himself in book 7...through death even.
Yeah...I kept thinking "It's a joke or something. Dumbledore can't be DEAD!"...I was wrong. Right now Luna is my favorite character. There's just something about her that I like.
Craig - She said that she won't write any prequels (or sequels), but who knows...she may change her mind. She did say that she would be interested in writing an encyclopedia of some sort.
I just read that there won't be any Qudditch match in the next book...at least she won't be actually writing one. Does this mean that Harry will really be away from the school?

I wouldn't assume that. There was one Quidditch game in HBP (if I'm not mistaken)- it's just gotten less important as the books go on. I doubt Quidditch would be the first thing on anyone's mind, even if they are still at Hogwarts. After all: I don't think they ever mentioned who won the house cup in HBP... it's not a big deal anymore. Besides, even if she doesn't write the match, she may still mention games. I hope so, anyway. I will be crushed if none of the next book takes place at Hogwarts.
Do you guys think that they'll be lots of deaths in book 7? It will probably be much more darker than this one. I wonder what JKR will call book 7. When does she usually announce the titles of the Harry Potter Books?

The year didn't end properly in HBP, so they couldn't award a House Cup even if they wanted to. Also, the image of the rubies spilling out of Gryffindor's hourglass was important- things like inter-house rivalries are going to have to be put aside in the final battle. The DA in OoTP was a nascent realization of that idea.
