I assumed Tommy Lee Jones had a lock for VALLEY OF ELAH.

Yes, all in all a pitiful year for women. It's a Louise Fletcher-winning-for-CUCKOO'S NEST-type-of-year. Watch for surprises at the Golden Globes -- Molly Shannon for YEAR OF THE DOG, say. And why not? And yes, Ms. Christie. She may emerge with critics' association lists.
