We have a lot of family and friends there. I hope not too many people were harmed.
London will be in my thoughts today.

Thank God it isn't as bad as it could have been. Then again, more news coming in....

My thoughts are with England (esp Londoners) today and the near future. They will not be terrorized. These events have changed the world (again)...there is no longer "over here" or "over there," we are one planet and one world fighting these bastards.
Hmmmm.... leaving in a few hours to take my husband to the airport for his flight to London. His hotel is not far from Kings Crossing. This is unnerving.
Are the airports even open? (I don't know...just asking)

Posted: 7/7/05 at 10:37amI've just received word from my friend Lynn Wallis - Artistic Director of The Royal Academy of Dance. She is fine. What a relief. Hoping I hear back from other friends/dancers in London soon.

Posted: 7/7/05 at 10:52amI have had contact from all my family and friends. So sad, after such happy news, yesterday. I wish I was there and am happy not to be, both at the same time.

Hey everyone. Thank you for the concern and the PMs. I am fine, I was already in the gym when it all went down, so that proves exercise really IS good for you. I was supposed to go into work at noon and of course I haven't. I am guessing that everyone at work is ok as I haven't been able to contact them. I leave my job this Saturday officially but it looks as though yesterday may well have been my last day. It all depends on how quickly everything gets up and running again, but I doubt I will be saying the words "Mary Poppins box office, may I help you?" again anytime soon.
Ok, I am at a friend's house on his laptop so I had better get going. If I don't get back to work, I will not be online again before I arrive in NYC on the 18th of this month.

I see CHICAGO is the only West End show going ahead with a performance tonight.

It's a great relief to hear from you, pop!
Bluemoon, I hope you can take comfort in the fact that historically, these sorts of attacks happen just once. It's highly unlikely anything will happen again now and just be grateful he wasn't there today.

Posted: 7/7/05 at 11:45amThe day after they won the 2012 Olympics, I can't help but wonder if it would have been NY had the Olympics been given here.

Posted: 7/7/05 at 11:48amReports have established it had nothing to do with the Olympic bid. It's retaliation for the troops in Iraq.

I echo the thoughts of Sister George - we'll be back on our feet soon. I was going to London on Saturday anyway, and certainly have no intention of cancelling my trip!
ETA: no theatres hit, though the vast majority are dark tonight

Here's to a safe trip for Bluemoon's husband. I think she'd said it was his first time overseas. It must be nervewracking for the whole family, but we'll keep good thoughts for you.
Also, has anyone heard anything from LeeinLondon? I'm trying to think of other folks that are London-based on the board, and his name popped to mind.
