Since the whole stampede to ban gay marriage started when Hawaii's Supreme Court ruled for it...kind of nice to see things coming full circle.
Wasn't their governor at one time dunked in our skank tank and dubbed, "Poi Skank"?!
Poi Skank! OMG that is hilarious Dottie.
Go Hawaii!
In all, same-sex marriage is legal in 16 states and the District of Columbia. It's banned in the other states, except New Mexico, which has no state law either way. Support for same-sex marriage has doubled in less than 20 years.
Isn't not having a state law the same thing as having gay marriage?
Tazber, it was the brilliance of Doodle!! He posted it on 7/7/10 at my suggestion, and you jumped on board! I looked at the Skank Tank thread.

Taz, not having a state law either way probably means the lawfulness of gay marriage in New Mexico is up to court interpretations of state marriage law.

Because New Mexico law is silent on the issue, various counties have started issuing same-sex marriage licenses (8 of NM's 33 counties, covering 58% of the state's population). Recently the state's county clerks petitioned the state supreme court to issue a ruling that would provide definitive statewide guidance as to the legality of same-sex marriage; that happened on October 23 and a ruling is pending.
