Why does SeanMartin always think people only dislike a peformer out of jealousy?
That being said, I can't stand his music, but I do think he's hot. I fully admit I'm a sucker for the bloated, frat boy on a bender look, though.

And I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that I, and several posters on here, can sing better than Buble. And with more consistency.
I can also say I'm not the least bit jealous of him or his career. Denis O'Hare and Christian Borle, maybe...but not Michael Buble.

I like Michael Buble. He's got the '50s/'60s crooner thing down. Sure he's derivative, but so were most of the guys swingin' it back then (with only one or two "original" exceptions).
He's no more derivative than every single, f*cking, whiny American Idol -riffing nonentity that's on the air waves these days. They all sound exactly like each other.
There are FAR fewer in Buble's league that can do it well.
And he can do it well.

I love Buble. think he sings fine and, at least to me, is totaly irresistable.
I thought he did some clever things on his last cd with reinterpretation of standards. And his cover of Feeling Good is the best I've ever heard.
Jack Donahue is pretty amazing also.

It's hard for me to get excited about someone like Buble (Or Connick)-- why in the world would I want to hear him attempt "Feeling Good" when I've got Nina Simone's definitive verstion on my shelf? A friend played me "Fly me to the moon (I think- it was a Sinatra song, I remember that)" by Buble and was all jazzed about it. It could not have impressed me less. Why take a virtually perfect song and re-record it in the same style? And even more, why buy it?
Sueleen got it right.

i still think it's a lot easier to buy tickets to a buble show than to schlep out to jersey, dig up sinatra and force him to sing "i did it my way".

I've actually tried to like him. I saw him on one of those VH1 I Love My Vagina shows or some such thing...and I thought he was actually pretty funny. I just cannot get past the fact that I don't think his voice is that good. And I really don't think his interprative skills are that developed.
I also love a stocky boy...but, for some reason, Buble just doesn't do it for me.

lol!
FYI: Sinara has recorded tons of Lps available on CD. He doesn't actually have to come back from the dead.
And neither does Nancy!

Speaking of Nancy, how great was it to see her on The Sopranos?
I would love to hear Bouble sing "Fifty Checks". Do you think he would be good in Catch Me If You Can?

Posted: 5/3/07 at 3:00pmEh, I'd rather him sing "Fifty Percent" and see Nancy in CATCH ME IF YOU CAN.

"Why take a virtually perfect song and re-record it in the same style?"
Isn't what 90% of cabaret/lounge singers do? Isn't that why they're called standards?

Gosh, I think this is perhaps the ONLY time I've said something like that, but what the hell... it's true, and you know it. If he'd stayed in Toronto and remained a quiet little Canadian performer, you'd be talking about this "great find" you found on your last trip north. Instead, you cant accept that he *can* sing damn well, that -- despite the "fat frat boy" look -- he got the major contracts and the tours and you didnt, and you show it by letting that green-eyed monster loose. It's too obvious. Deal with it.

Nope! I just think he sucks.
And y'all STILL need to explain that Astaire bullsh*t to me.

And, to be honest, one of the last things I'd want to be in the entertainment business is a recording/concert artist. It's a life that absolutely does not appeal to me.
So good for him for getting a recording contract and making millions and such. There certainly have been far less talented folk to do the same.
I just don't like his singing.

Posted: 5/3/07 at 4:52pmYeah, cmon, Fred Astaire? Why not just compare him to James Joyce or Mozart? Jeez....
